it's hard. taking it all in.

cipher pol 9. the elite branch of the world government, hiding away in galley-la, waiting to bear their claws and betray them. and, nobody ever knew. they really are elite- he muses as he stares up at the ceiling.

kaku wonders what it would have been like in a world where he was part of cipher pol. maybe he would still be as free as he was here- or maybe be would be confined and stripped of his emotions and be a kaku which only lived to serve the government.

well- it was kind of morbid to think about. here he was, sitting beside iceburg as he rest, emptiness and sorrow filling the room. without the company of kalifa, lucci... it was strange; feeling empty.

he had decided to stay behind with iceburg instead of following the straw hats in their takeback of nico robin. he honestly didn't want to look at their faces- or do something he may regret as a result.

he was just filled with a mixture of anger and sorrow as he realised how much he missed them- how much he wanted them to come back and become the galley-la company they were the 5 prior years. kaku wishes he would have noticed the signs of betrayal before it could reach the level it was at.

most of all, though, he wished paulie was safe. he seemed to take the most of it to heart. of course- there was nothing stopping him. he was injured, angry, but still ventured off to help the strawhats. kaku ponders if he was there for reasons other than what he made out to be, or not.

at least kaku had paulie. the relief he felt upon the realisation paulie had not also been playing him like a fool made kaku more confident- happy he had at least somebody to remain alongside him and iceburg at galley-la.

so, kaku takes iceburg's hand and grips it tightly as he sleeps. a silent promise to also remain by his side- never betray him after being happy as a shipwright for so long.

kaku was sure that he might not be able to trust anybody fully again- but he knows for sure that he would go back to work and continue to be the best shipwright he could- along with what was left of galley-la company.

he couldn't wish to be part of cp9 when he had a place here. he would always be the 'mountain wind' of water 7. he would never be the 'agent' of cipher pol 9.
