Dad: You can never do anything right! You're a pathetic excuse for a daughter!
Layla tried to stop herself from crying but she couldn't. She had reached her limit.
Dad: Literally all you do is cry and cry!
Layla: Oh really? Guess who keeps us living off the streets? While you're busy drinking, I'm trying to keep a roof over our heads and to keep us fed. I'm the one who does everything around here! Her father slapped her and continued drinking a can of beer as he walked away.
**Present time**
Layla's POV
That was the last conversation we had. Since then I've been staying with Jasmine and her family, and I'm so thankful! Without her, I wouldn't be here right now. I'm so happy to see her and Asher again!!Driver: We're here Ms Layla.
My driver, Isabelle brought me out of my thoughts. I looked out the window and looked at their house, which looked relatively the same as it did a year ago.
Driver: Enjoy your time here! If you need anything, feel free to call me.
Layla: Thank you Isabelle!I got out of the car and Isabelle helped me with my luggage, which were only 2 suitcases with everything I needed for the next few weeks. She drove off and I walked to the front door.
Third person
Layla was wearing a white t-shirt with blue ripped jeans.
Layla walked up to the front door and raised her hand to knock. Before she could, the door flung opened and Jasmine greeted her with a big hug. Jasmine was wearing a black pleated skirt and a pink top.
Jasmine: You finally made it!
Layla: It's so great to see you Jas!
Jasmine: It's great to see you too Lia!
Layla: How is everyone?
Jasmine: We're all good. But I think my parents want Asher and I out of the house. They laughed and then Jasmine gave her a smirk.
Jasmine: Has anything changed?
Layla: What do you mean?Jasmine helped Layla with one of her suitcases as they entered the house.
Jasmine: Your feelings for my brother.
Layla: Oh, I'm totally over him.Layla then noticed Asher sitting on the couch with his phone in his hand. He was wearing a grey hoodie and black jeans. He looked up when he heard Layla's voice and smiled.
Asher: Hey Lia!
Asher stood up and gave Layla a hug.
Layla: Hey Ash! It's good to see you again.
Asher: It's good to see you too.Layla's POV
He changed a bit during this past year. He dyed his dark blue and he has a tattoo of a rose on his lower arm. The new hair colour actually suits him!Asher's POV
She hasn't really changed since we last saw each other. Her hair goes up to her shoulders, still the same as in highschool, and her eyes are still that mysterious hazel colour which look brighter than they did before. She still has that innocent and optimistic face.Third person
Asher: How's college so far?
Layla: It included some sleepless nights and it was sometimes tough, but it wasn't too bad for my first year. Just have to endure another 3. How's college been for you?
Asher: Also tiring but I've gotten the hang of it...kinda. Luckily I've got a year left! I'm guessing you picked acting and music, right?
Layla: You guessed it! And now I'm going to guess that you chose photography and business?
Asher: That's right!
Jasmine: His skills are good but nothing to get too excited about.
Asher: Jealous? Aren't you a psychologist?
Asher: No. I'm STUDYING to be a psychologist dummy. My job doesn't require photography.
