The first thing Han Mira felt was the dire need to gasp for breath. Her eyes shot open to see a dark blue sky far above her. The night was as dark as ever and a deadly silence hung over the world. She cautiously sat up, expecting her body to ache but surprisingly she felt no pain or nothing at all. She slowly examined her surroundings as she jumped to her feet. She was standing in the middle of an empty road. The dark night made it hard for her to see things vividly but she could make out a turned over car with a crushed bonnet in a distance. Pieces of broken glass lay on the ground around the car. She inhaled a sharp breath as she recognised it as her own car. She quickly rewinded her memories to remember what had happened. After a late night shift at her office, tired as hell, Mira had been heading back to her lonely yet peaceful apartment. She wanted to get home as fast as possible so she'd been driving a bit faster than she probably should have. After 10 minutes of peaceful driving, she'd turned around the street where her apartment complex was but suddenly noticing someone standing in the way, she'd instantly turned the wheel the other way to avoid hitting the person standing on the road and had ended up crashing into another car who was arriving from the opposite direction. The next thing she remembered was her head spinning as the car turned over, rolling off a few inches away. The last thing Mira remembered was pain. A piercing pain that felt like someone had ripped out her heart from her chest with bare hands and then darkness surrounded her.
Returning to the present, she looked around for another vehicle and found another car with a crushed bonnet and broken windscreen. Mira stood with a perplexed heart that was beating so loud she could hear it in the silent night. How had she gotten out of the car without being hurt? She narrowed her eyes at the other vehicle and noticed a man inside who was most likely unconscious. He was leaned back in the seat and his head was bleeding as he'd hit it on the steering wheel. Mira moved to go help the man but halted when she heard somebody speak.
"Holy Heaven!" Said a husky voice behind her. She flinched as she turned her head to look at the man standing a few steps away from her. He had sand blonde hair and was dressed in white clothing from head to toe. Instinctively, she moved away from the unknown man. The man wasn't looking at her, rather, he was looking through her and back at the turned over car. He stood paralyzed like he'd been frozen. Before she could question who he was, yet another voice spoke up.
"Watch what you're doing, guardian!" The other man's voice was smooth and silvery. Mira's head snapped to the man who stood near the car she'd crashed into, the car that had the unconscious man inside. He had mint green hair and small features. Unlike the blonde man, this one was dressed in a darker colour.
"Yoongi." The frozen man shifted his gaze to the other man, fear evident in his eyes.
"You've created a mess now! This is why you should'nt have been given this job." The mint haired man, Yoongi, fumed as he glared at the turned over car, then at Mira.
"Oh no, what have I done?" The blonde man covered his mouth with his hand as he stared at Mira with wide eyes. He seemed to pale at the sight of her, as if he'd seen a ghost.
"Who are you two and what's going on?" Mira asked, eyes shifting between the blonde man and Yoongi. Yoongi only let out a exasperated sigh at the question and, ignoring it, went to check up on the unconscious man in the car. The blonde man stood as still as a statue, as if he was in deep shock.
"I asked, who are you?" Mira repeated, shifting her body to the blonde man.
"K-Kim Namjoon." The man stuttered out. He seemed to be visibly shaking as he sunk to the ground, his wobbly knees giving up on him.
"Mister, are you okay? What's wrong?" She asked, as she took a few steps towards him, concerned.
"Holy crap, Yoongi! I've killed her, I've killed her!" Namjoon shrieked, glancing towards Yoongi who had returned from the car and was walking towards them.
"Yes, you have." Yoongi replied rather calmly. "I suppose you should start counting down the last few minutes of your own existence now." He added as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Can I get any kind of explanation as to what's happening?" Mira interrupted, frustrated with the situation. Namjoon stayed silent on the ground, paralyzed by whatever trauma he was going through. Yoongi, on the other hand, turned to Mira and tilted his head, amusingly. He took a good look at her before starting.
"Han Mira, age 24, born in Busan-"
"Woah, woah, what? Are you the grim reaper or something?" Mira cut off Yoongi's biography of her, staring at him with wide eyes.
"No, quite the opposite actually, I'm a guardian angel." Yoongi responded, coolly.
"A guardian angel?" Mira arched an eyebrow, eyeing the man again who appeared to be completely normal and human.
"Correct, and Han Mira, you are dead." Yoongi stated monotonously.
"What?" Mira felt her heart drop to her feet. She stared at the man and let out a weak chuckle. "Very funny." When the man's bored expression didn't falter, Mira felt her nerves straining. She'd been in an accident and yet she stood, unharmed. How was that possible? No, it was not possible. She felt her hands start to shake.
"No, but I'm alive..." She said as she stared down at her trembling hands, her heartbeat sky rocketing.
"Ugh humans!" Yoongi stated, annoyed, as he rolled his eyes. "Go look for yourself!" He pointed towards the turned over car, Mira's car. She looked at Yoongi for a moment then glanced down at Namjoon who hadn't yet recovered from whatever shock. She inhaled a sharp breath as she treaded towards the car, not knowing what to expect. She carefully crouched down, avoiding the broken shards of glass, as she peered inside the turned over car.
Mira felt her blood run cold and her body start to tremble. The chilly night suddenly felt even colder. Looking inside through the broken window of the car, she was face-to-face with her own body. Her dead body. Hot tears streamed down her face. She was in the driving seat with her body lank, bloody hair, and her neck angled in an impossible way, indicating that it was broken. Mira felt bile rise in the back of her throat, threatening to come out. She jumped away from the gruesome sight at once, accidentally landing her hand on a shard of broken glass. She yelped at the stinging pain as she saw no blood coming out of the area where a wound should have been.
"Bloody hell!" She shrieked.
"Wrong." Yoongi snickered. "I'm on heaven's side."
"I'm dead." She whispered in a shaky voice, not caring about Yoongi's comment.
"And that isn't even the worst part," Said Yoongi as he brought out his hands from the pockets, crossing them over his chest. Mira turned her head to look at him with terror filled eyes and tear stained cheeks. Yoongi pointed back at Namjoon who had his head in his hands and was mumbling something to himself.
"Your lame-excuse-of-a-guardian angel here is the reason you're dead."
