I close the door behind me, the first thing that hits me is the usual music infecting this club, and I walk past the reception. I look over at the booth, the girl that's inside nods at me, and I walk out to the dance floor. My own thoughts are smothered by the sound of the music, I glance at the people dancing, and I spot a black-haired woman dancing all alone. She's wearing black jeans, a white top, and her arms are riddled with tattoos.
I walk towards her, she looks at me, and signals me to join her "What are you doing on the dance floor, Beatrix? You're the owner, not a costumer," I yell "What's wrong with having a little fun occasionally? After a few centuries, you sort of lose your inhibitions," Beatrix yells, I look at the other people on the dance floor, and then back at Beatrix "We need to talk, now!" I yell, Beatrix stops dancing, she lowers her head, and I can see that she's mad at me "Fine! Let's go to my office!" Beatrix yells looking at me, she turns her back to me, and starts walking away. I follow her across the dance floor, we pass by the stage, and she opens the door that's to the right of it.
We walk through the door, I close it behind me, and she walks up the stairs to my left. I walk behind her "So what is it? No one will hear us here," Beatrix says, "I'm sure you already heard the news, of what happened on the field next to this club," I say, we reach the top of the stairs, Beatrix unlocks the door to her office, and walks inside "You're going to accuse me of doing that!?" Beatrix yells, I walk into the office, and I close the door behind me. She's standing in the middle of the room and has her back turned to me "I'm n-," I say interrupted by her sudden movement, she turns around, and appears in front of me in a blur "You have some nerve, Brandon! After everything I've done for you, how dare you accuse me of murdering someone!" Beatrix yells, her eyes have turned red, I haven't seen her this furious in years.
I place my hands on her shoulders "Beatrix, they're showing," I say looking at her mouth "What!? Shit!" Beatrix says turning around, she covers her mouth, and walks to the other side of the room "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lose my temper," Beatrix says, I walk closer to her "It's okay, I know you weren't going to do anything, that's why I didn't accuse you of anything. I only wanted to talk to you," I say, she turns around "That means you want a favour," Beatrix says, she's calmed down already, her blue eyes are showing "No, I'm here to keep this place safe," I say, she walks over to her desk that's to my left, and sits down at her chair "Go on," Beatrix says, I walk in front of the desk "It wasn't a human that died, Beatrix. It was one of your kind, that means you're at risk, especially since we found out that the victim came here often," I say "You're worried about me, how cute," Beatrix says laughing "I'm not joking," I say.
She stands up, and smirks at me "You know, it's been a while since we've been alone. Despite me losing my temper, your heart didn't even flutter," Beatrix says walking around the desk to my right, I look at her as she gets closer to me "Do you trust me that much? Despite knowing what I am?" Beatrix asks placing her hand on my right shoulder. The scent of daisies reaches my nose, her skin has become clearer, and her eyes are calling out to me "It's like you said, you've done a lot for me. After all that, why should I not trust a friend?" I ask, she lets go of me "You noticed it, didn't you?" Beatrix asks sighing "From the start, I've known you for too long. Now follow me, we need to talk to your security," I say turning to the door.
I walk towards it, and I feel Beatrix walking behind me "And what's this about calling me a friend? Is that what we are now?" Beatrix asks, I open the door, and we walk down the stairs "We broke up a year ago, can't you let it go?" I ask, I start scrapping my right index finger with my right thumb's nail "No, you left me, it's completely different...I'm sorry that I hurt you," Beatrix says, we reach the bottom of the stairs, I clench my hands, and I let out a sigh. I look back at her "Let's not do this again, I'm only here for business, Beatrix," I say, I open the door to the dance floor, and I walk out.
