"I'm telling you Homare, that girl was lying!" Wataru wailed, wringing both hands through his hair. "I-I didn't know that girl at all!"

"Wataru, how did she know all of that info about you?" Homare asked. He was sitting at Wataru's desk while Wataru frantically paced around his bedroom. "I can verify that everything she said was true!"

"I don't know!" Wataru pressed his hands over his eyes and collapsed to his knees hard. The carpet was thick and expensive, but pain still shot up his legs. He didn't care. "I don't know how she knew all of that! W-When I tried to go back there and confront her, the owner personally threw me out! H-He seemed like a nice guy, but he was really scary!"  He dropped his hands away from his face. He felt like crying. "If that girl was my ex-girlfriend, then I wouldn't have booked the mixer at that restaurant," he said. "I-I mean—Homare, I've never even kissed a girl, okay?!"

"Wait, what?!" Homare exclaimed, straightening. "Wataru—are you saying that the waitress kissing you...that was your first kiss?!"

"Yes!" Wataru spat. "I had never kissed a girl before that moment!"

"Okay, I believe you now," Homare said, relaxing with a smile. "There is no way you would have admitted that if you weren't being serious."

"Gee, thanks," Wataru said sarcastically.

Homare however quickly sobered and rubbed at his eyes. "Well...even though I do believe you, there's nothing I can do," he said in resignation. "I'm in deep trouble with Tami over this. She almost broke up with me, and I had to do some serious groveling so that she wouldn't do it. But I'm on thin ice with my own girlfriend, and..." Homare shook his head. "I'm sorry, Wataru. There isn't much I can do."

Wataru frowned and ducked his head again. "How did everything go so wrong?"

"It all started when you bullied Kumori so horribly," Homare said. "I know you said you can't remember it, but she does. And now she thinks you're a Casanova who uses women. I-I—" Homare slowly stood up. "Wataru."

"...What?"

"You need to let this go."

Wataru's head snapped up, but Homare was wearing a hard expression. "You made your feelings known to Kumori," he said. "She's rejected you. You need to accept this rejection and move on. If you don't, then you're going to look like an obsessive stalker. More so than you currently do."

"Look," Wataru said, jumping to his feet. "I-I know that she hates me for bullying her. I accept that, I own that. But I didn't do those things that waitress said I did! I need to clear my name to Natsumi!"

Homare shrugged sadly at him. "Do you want my honest opinion, Wataru?"

"Yes."

"I think you're beyond the point of trying to win her over. She doesn't want you."

Wataru was left standing there speechless as his best friend took his leave. He looked towards the ceiling, and was unable to stop the tears from spilling out.

Why? Why did it come to this? Is this what I deserve? But I don't remember what I did wrong to Natsumi, and I'm completely innocent of the accusations that waitress threw at me! How did my life turn into such a mess?!

Yuto rubbed at his forehead as he glanced at his twin. They were both standing in front of the blazing fireplace of their living room. "I think burning the dress was excessive," he said.
