And it was said that the world was dark, a sprawling vast darkness that saw no end and no beginning, the darkness was called sobris, he was tasked with swallowing the light that fought to spring forth in his ocean of dark. One day long before the first age, sobris went to aros and asked for a favor. He told tales of his loneliness and how he grew tired of swallowing the light, curious of what would happen if he let it grow and thrive, nurtured in his darkness rather than smothered by it. Aros took pity on his dark son and granted he allow one speck of darkness to grow, he cautioned sobris to choose wisely, for not all light is seen as good. Sobris, filled with a glee he had never known before, returned to his ocean of darkness and waited patiently for the light to return, he spent an age waiting for the perfect light to appear, finally, a lovely glow appeared, it was soft and cool, and gave off a comforting sort of light, sobris knew this was the light he wanted to nurture. Slowly he watched as the light grew, forming an orb of pale light, from this light sprung forth a goddess, as pale and lovely as the light that radiated from her skin, she blinked her large round eyes at the darkness around her, impulsively sobris sprung froth in a physical form manifesting into a being of dark. He named the goddess nimis, and as he promised, he nurtured and cared for her and her light. Many millennia later, nimis began to question why she was the only light in his darkness, sobris, lovingly caressing her cheek, explained his story and nimis begged him to go forth to Aros again and ask him to grant them a child. Reluctantly sobris did as his love asked, going again to Aros and asking for a favor. Aros having seen the kind love that the two harbored, granted them another bit of light, again Aros cautioned them to choose wisely, for not all light is good. Sobris returned to his nimis and told her of the news, patiently they waited, until a warm speck of light appeared. It burned and raged with a spark unseen by the world thus far, nimis went forth and caressed the light, it burst forth in a great flare of fire. And thus Shinos the sun was born. He grew into a great powerful blaze that seemed ever lasting and strong, the perfect contrast to nimis' light, as he grew once again nimis went to sobris, pleading with him to ask Aros for one last favor. Reluctantly sobris went, but Aros was already waiting for him, he reached out a great hand and in his palm sat an orb of green and blue, he bade sobris to look into the orb, there has saw vast peaks and sprawling glades, wide oceans of blue instead of black, deserts of hot sand and rivers of salvation. There he saw the world Aros had created, he encouraged sobris to take it, telling him that he and his family had a part to play in the nurturing of this world, nimis would control the tides and the night sky, shinos would warm the world with his light, encouraging crops to grow and things to thrive. Sobris asked what his part was, to which Aros turned over the world, a vast world of caverns and glowing things, gems and stones and a great cavern. He told sobris this was to be his domain, for his first task was to nurture two more beings of light to aid the creatures he intended to place in their world. Sobris asked if he would be able to stay with his wife and son, Aros looked at him in sadness, explaining that his job was the most important, for he would take care of the souls after they passed from his wife and sons domain, for he was to guard the afterlife. He pleaded with Aros to let him see his family, Aros took pity upon him a time in which the moon would dip below the horizon and return a long while later, for she would stay with him in the underworld. He thanked Aros and returned with the little world in his hands. And together, they chose 2 more sparks of light to nurture and care for, the first being addos, with his herbs and plants of healing, and nigena, with her hearty soil and squirming things. One by one the gods took their places on the earth, lastly being sobris who cradled his wife in his arms one last time before his departure to the underworld. Feeling sad for his father, shinos gifted sobris with part of his light, filling a vast crater in the underworld with a molten rock that emitted his light. Comforted by its warmth, sobris built his domain by the crater, and waited for his wife to return.
