Dreamstory: Universe ZERO

Episode 1, Part 1: Monika Heartlock

(1st Person)

I'm Monika Heartlock.
I'm currently 21 years of age.
Today is December 31st, 1993
It is currently 11:58 pm.
Me, my girlfriend Juniper Skylan, and our best friends, Lulladora Burgers and Beatrice Pollyanna Wasureta are outside looking up at the night sky, from the Tempest Peak Park, a park we've been going to since we were kids.

Beatrice: "You know, I never expected our friendships to last this long."

Monika: "To be honest, neither did I. But golly, am I happy it did."

Lulladora: "Same here."

We continue to stare into the night sky. Juniper and I are swinging on the swings together, Beatrice sits on a nearby bench, and Lulladora is somehow on top of the swing set.

It is now 11:59 pm. One minute away from the new year.

Monika: "So, what's your resolution, Juniper?"

Juniper: "Resolution? What's that?"

Monika: "A New Year's resolution! It's like a promise to yourself, to improve."

Juniper: "...I don't follow."

Monika: "Let me give you an example; My resolution is I want to save my money more. It's kinda like; a promise to improve upon yourself."

Juniper: "Oh, I get it! Then in that case, my resolution is that I'll make you smile more!"

I turn away and laugh

Monika: "Oh, you!"

I look at my watch, and it's is 9 seconds away from 12:00.

Monika: "It's almost 12!"

Me, Juniper, Lulladora, and Beatrice all look up into the sky.

9 seconds pass, and a firework is launched into the air.

Weeeeeeeee.....

BOOM!

The firework went off, and we all cheered.
Multiple fireworks launch off afterwards

Lulladora jumps down from the swing set, about 8 feet in front of Juniper and I.

Juniper: "Lulladora? You jumped from pretty high up, are you okay?"

Lulladora brushes her arms and looks up.

Lulladora: "Yeah, I'm not hurt."

Juniper: "Oh, good, because I didn't bring my phone with me."

After some long silence Lulladora turns to us.

Lulladora: "I have a question for everybody."

Me and Juniper turn our attention to Lulladora.

Lulladora: "If you could be the god of any one thing, what would it be?"

Juniper and I think for a moment.

Juniper: "Hmmm.... Probably psychedelics or reality or something."

Monika: "I'd wanna the god of time! That'd be fun."

Lulladora: "Beatrice?"

Beatrice: "Huh? I wasn't paying attention."

Lulladora: "If you could be the god of any one thing, what would it be?"

Beatrice: "Hmm.... Probably the cold or something like that."

Lulladora: "Alright cool."

Monika: "What about you? What would you be the god of, Lulladora?"

Lulladora turns to me, and I could have sworn everything went dark, and Lulladora's eyes started to glow a tiny hint of red as she said,

"Chaos."

It could have been the wine taking effect, but I was scared to talk for the rest of the time we were there.

Lulladora: "Well, I got to see what I came here for, so I'm gonna leave now."

Monika: "Oh okay, see you later, I guess."

Lulladora proceeds to turn around and run away surprisingly fast to her home.

Monika: "Hey Juniper?"

Juniper: "Yes dear?"

Monika: "When Lulladora said 'Chaos', did you see her eyes glow red, or was that just me?"

Juniper: "I can't say I did. Are you feeling okay?"

Monika: "Yeah, I'm fine. I guess I'm just tired. Do you wanna head home?"

Juniper: "Sure, I'm getting pretty tired as well."

Both me and Juniper stop swinging and stood up.

Monika: "Hey Bea! We're going home! We'll see you later!"

Bea just sticks her thumb up, and walks home.

Juniper takes my hand, and we walk home.

After walking for about 6 minutes, we make it home, and enter.

Juniper: "Monika, you said you saw Lulladora's eyes glow as she said 'Chaos', right?"

Monika: "Yeah, what about it?"

Juniper: "Are you completely sure you're okay? You're not feeling dizzy, are you?"

Monika: "No, I'm fine. Honest. If it makes you feel any better, I'll go to bed right now."

Juniper: "Okay then. Good night, dear."

Monika: "Good night!"

I walk to the bedroom, slip off my shoes, and crawl into bed.

I slip the blanket onto myself, and I close my eyes, and go to sleep.

Before I fell into my slumber, I had a thought.

Juniper and I, should totally adopt a child.
