Hunters, Werewolves, & Legacies, Part 1

"Are you sure you don't want to come with me to the party, Crystal?" Ash asked her for the hundredth time the following Friday evening.

Ash was getting ready for the party that Lydia Martin was throwing. It was sort of a celebration for the beginning of school and a lot of the lacrosse players were going to celebrate the fact that they had made it onto the team. Ash had made first line within a few minutes of being on the field. He hadn't allowed anyone to get by him, and he had scored quite a few good shots. Scott had been pretty impressive as well, flipping and twirling his way across the field to make an amazing shot. It was a good thing he was on their team and not the opposing one.

Crystal sighed in annoyance. "If I changed my mind and went with you, would you stop worrying about me?"

Ash shook his head. "No."

"Then yes. I am absolutely positive that I don't want to go to this party," Crystal responded confidently. "Besides, you know I don't like those kinds of things."

"Yeah, I just don't feel comfortable leaving you by yourself, especially on a full moon," Ash responded, pulling on his black leather jacket and grabbing his keys.

"I'll be fine," Crystal reassured him. "And what's the big deal about it being a full moon?"

"Oh, nothing. This town just seems a little..."

"Deadly?" Crystal offered, receiving a nod from Ash. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. You go and have some fun. You need it."

"Alright. I'll see you in the morning?"

"See you in the morning," Crystal responded, shutting the door behind Ash as he left, before heading back to the couch, picking up her book, and settling down for a night full of demigods, gods, and monsters.

Ash pulled up to the house where the party was being held, the pounding beat of the music could be heard streaming out of the backyard. He parked his bike on the side of the road, a little ways from the driveway, turning it off before he pulled his helmet off and set it in front of him. He stayed seated on his bike for a minute, just listening to the blaring music and the sounds of several hundred teens having a good time. Eventually, Ash got off his bike, slipping his keys into his front pocket, and made his way to the front door.

As Ash entered the house, he saw that the party was already in full swing, with teens dancing and drinking, and a few already making absolute fools of themselves with how much they had already had to drink. Ash headed over to where the other lacrosse players were hanging out in the backyard, but he paused when he saw Stiles, and instead turned to go over to where the young sophomore was awkwardly standing, surrounded by several other teens, who were all talking amongst themselves.

"Oh, hey, Ash," Stiles said distractedly when he noticed Ash walking over.

"Hey, Stiles. What's got you so anxious?" Ash asked, raising his voice so Stiles could hear him over the music. Stiles hardly spared him a glance and seemed much more focused on something, or someone, across the yard from where they were standing on the back patio.

"Oh! Nothing," Stiles quickly responded. "Just enjoying the party."

Ash quirked an eyebrow as Stiles proceeded to bob his head to the music in the most forcibly relaxed way possible. He quickly looked out over the yard, trying to figure out who it could be that Stiles had been watching so intensely. It didn't take Ash long to realize that he was watching Scott, who was dancing with Allison.

"Stiles, why are you watching Scott dance with Allison?" Ash asked, observing as Stiles looked at him with wide dark brown eyes.

"N-no reason. Just happy for my best friend," Stiles stuttered, nodding his head.
