Chapter 1- Reunion

Summer's pov:
I am 26 now, and it has been years since I broke up with Freddy. We lost contact when he found out that I was getting married.

-flashback-

"Will you marry me?" Josh asks, kneeling on one knee. I stare at him in shock for a few seconds. I dunno if I'm ready for that. I ignore myself. "YES!" I cry, then Josh slides the ring on my finger, and we kiss.

Soon after, we pack up our things, and move to LA.

-end of flash back-

Soon after we got married, Josh to change. He would get really drunk, then hit me. I told Tomika multiple times, but she shrugged it off, and told me that it doesn't matter if I'm married to him. I lost contact with her soon after. I didn't leave Josh because we have a kid together, her name is Lily. Only when he started to hit Lily, did I run away with Lily to Austin, and send him divorce papers when I was safely there.

Now, a few weeks later, I received a letter from Zack. It is an invitation to a band reunion for School of Rock. I have decided to leave Lily with a babysitter, so I can see all my old friends again.

The reunion is today, and I'm just waiting for the babysitter to arrive. My phone dings. The 17 year old girl, who was meant to be babysitting Lily, says that she can't come anymore, because she's going to an 'epic teen party'. I sigh, and turn to my daughter.

"Well, Lily, looks like you're coming with Mummy to see her friends." I smile, and Lily excitedly jumps up and down.

Lily and I walk into the cafe we are meeting at, and I'm holding her hand, to make sure she doesn't get lost.

The second I walk in, I see a table with a woman with brunette hair, wearing a black top, an Asian man holding a briefcase, an older man with long hair and a man wearing glasses, holding some kind of invention. I also see a man with his hair gelled back. I smile softly. That's the band, alright!

"Hey guys." I say, and they all stop talking, and turn to me.

"Summer!" They all cry at the same. "How have you been?" Lawrence smiles. None of them have noticed Lily yet. "Not bad." I smile. Then, Lily, being the little social butterfly she is, speaks up.

"Hi I'm Lily I'm 4 and a half." She cries proudly, causing all the band members to look in her direction. "Sorry, I had to bring her because the babysitter backed out last second." I apologise. At that second, most of the band immediately starts to talk to her, and seem to absolutely love her.

Most of the band, not Freddy. He's frowning down at her, and seems kind of sad. Is he good? He was fine literally less than 2 seconds ago.

My thoughts are interrupted by Lily trying to show off to the band. "Last week I was walking down the stairs, but then I jumped over the last one, and landed in a Spiderman position." She states, and the band grins. "She is adorable!" Tomika tells me, and I smile softly.

I sit down in the empty seat next to Freddy, and Lily sits on my lap, and plays games on my phone.

I begin to notice how quiet Freddy is, only speaking when he is spoken to. It is very weird, not at all like Freddy. "Are you okay, Freddy?" I ask worriedly, making the whole band turn to look at him. "Wha...yeah I'm fine." He smiles weakly, trying to convince me that he's fine.

A waiter comes and gives us our food, and we sit in an awkward silence for a few seconds. "So, Summer...how are things with you and Josh?" Tomika questions suddenly.

"Oh, um...we divorced a few months ago." I explain awkwardly. Freddy, who was looking down and playing with his food with his fork, looks up suddenly. "What? Why?" Tomika asks, but then she realises, "You divorced him for what he did, didn't you?"

I nod, and Tomika frowns, and shakes her head, as if disappointed in me. "Summer, you guys were happily married! He was just a bit drunk, he didn't mean it." She tells me. I get a sudden surge of rage, and slam my fist on the table, making everyone jump.

"Happily married? He didn't mean it?" I snap. "Firstly, he did mean it! I didn't want him to! A would scream at him to stop! Secondly, a lot has happened since we last spoke! Last time we spoke, I didn't even have a kid yet!" I yell. Freddy has a confused expression on his face, and opens his mouth to speak, but I don't give him the chance.

"Just because we were married, doesn't mean that it wasn't assault! I told him to stop multiple times, but he did anyway! He has hit me until I would black out multiple times since! AND he would hit Lily too!" I , standing up, drawing unwanted attention to our table.

"Don't just go and assume that I'm overreacting, and say things like that to me, when you have no idea what I have been through! I had to run away to Austin to save myself and my kid from that psychopath!" I finish.

Everyone in the cafe is now staring at me.

"Mummy, what did all that mean?" Lily asks, looking really scared. I take a couple of deep breaths, to calm myself, before answering. "Nothing, Lily. Just that Mummy has lost a very good friend today." I say, glaring at Tomika. With that, I take Lily's hand, and we leave the cafe.

When we were a few metres away from the bakery, I hear someone call my name. "I turn around to face Freddy.

"Um, uh, hi?" I attempt to smile, but it's really hard, after what just happened.

"I, um..." Freddy trails off when he sees Lily pulling faces at him, and pulling her blonde hair back, trying to look like Freddy. He looks down, definitely really hurt. "Lily, stop." I instruct. She ignores me, and continues to be really rude.

"You're grounded." I declare, and Lily looks at me, absolutely horrified. "But.." She starts, but goes quiet, when I shoot her a warning glare.

"Sorry, you can continue." I say, looking back at Freddy. He smiles. "Don't worry about it." He tells me, shoving his hands in his pockets. He turns around, and starts to walk back to the cafe, but I grab his arm, stopping him. "Please, keep going." I beg, giving him the puppy eyes.

He sighs, still to this day unable to resist the puppy eyes.

"I was just wondering if I could have your number, so we could, you know, stay in touch." Freddy asks politely. I smile softly, and open my mouth to answer. "No! You can't!" Lily pipes up, beating me to an answer, "I don't like you because you got me grounded, so you don't deserve to stay in contact with my Mummy!"

Freddy looks at his feet, bites his lip and shoves his hands in his pockets again.

"Don't listen to her, of course you can!" I grin, and Freddy looks back up, smiling excitedly. He hands me his phone, and I type my phone number in. Then, I set it as a contact, under the name 'Summer❤'. Then, I hand him his phone, and he smiles when he sees the contact name I put myself as. He looks back up at me, and we stare into each other's eyes. This continues for a few seconds, until we get interrupted. "Mummy, I need to pee!" Lily says, and we both look down at her.

"Well, I gotta go then." I tell Freddy. "Okay. I'll text you later." He smiles, and I smile back. Then I lean up, and kiss his cheek, before leaving with Lily.
