Chance To Be Good?

Chapter 5

The sun beams broke into the room, waking me up. Before getting dressed, I stretch. I sort out my hair as well as add some light make-up. I then grab some fruit and my books before leaving to go to class right on time after asking for a few directions, at one point stopping to talk to a few people - including Ben before Audrey showed up. "Good morning Nix" fairy godmother smiles "good morning," I say as I walk in and take my seat "you're a few minutes early, I see you're ready to learn" "I am, actually. I even had Ben help me yesterday for a few hours which was nice" I tell her as the other four arrive moments after the bell "welcome to Remedial Goodness 101" Fairy godmother claps her hands as she stands on a stage in front of a green, blackboard with chalk words written upon it. She holds a skinny long pointing stick as she points to a question. "If someone hands you a crying baby, do you, A, curse it? B, lock it in a tower? C, give it a bottle? Or D, carve out its heart? Evie." "What was the second one?" Evie asks "Oh, okay. Anyone else? Nix?" "C, give it a bottle." "Correct, again" "you're on fire girl" Carlos calls to me "she's just picking the ones that are the least fun" Mal speaks up "actually considering I covered this yesterday with Ben, I think that would give me a bigger chance" I reply as I glare at Mal

Then a girl around our age walks in, "Oh. Hello, dear one." "Hi. You need to sign off on early dismissal for the coronation." "Everyone here remembers my daughter, Jane?" "Mom! No!" Jane gasps "It's okay. Jane, this is everyone." I wave at Jane as her mother signs the paper. "Hi. That's okay, don't mind me. As you were." Jane mumbles before hurrying out. I quickly raise my hand. "Yes, Nix?" "May I go to the bathroom?" "Do you really need it?" I nod. "I really do. " "oh go on then. " I smile as I thank her before running out after Jane, who walks to the bathroom "hey, Jane, right?" She nods "I'm Nix, Hade's daughter, I was wondering if maybe you would like to be my friend, I'm not friends with the VKs I promise I have no bad intentions," I tell her as I sit next to the sink "I really don't think that's a good idea..." She sighs "promise me you will at least consider it," I ask and she nods "great, well I better get back to class to get my things" I laugh as I jump down "have a fabulous day Jane" I call as I walk out and back to class where I gather my things. "Hey, how was your first day? I tried talking to Mal, but she seems to be in a mood. " Ben sighs. "oh it was really good so far, and don't worry about Mal. She's just annoying to be with all the non-VKs. I'm just glad to have a normal life for once. " I smile. "oh, by the way, you got something on your face," I tell him before walking off

At the end of the day, I return to my room working on all of my homework until I get a knock at the door "it's open" I call not daring to look up "hey, Nix, I didn't see you for the rest of the day, do you have any questions or anything?" I look up "not right now, I'm more focused on my homework but if I did at some point today or in the future where could I find you?" I ask "well today I will be in my room if that's all I will see you later" he smiles shutting the door so I return to my homework before putting it all away nicely and started writing a letter back to my mother about how school is going and if she can come and meet up soon. I then put it in an envelope with an address that I know will ensure she will get it. Except there was one small problem... I didn't know how to post the letter meaning I had to trail all to Ben's room as well as sneak past every single guard which was a pain that was worth it "Nix, it was a matter of time before I saw you again" Ben laughs with a smile "well I did end up sneaking past the guards, I wasn't sure what they would do" I shrug "I assume you have a question for me to answer" he asks "so I really need to send my mother a letter but I'm not sure how I'm meant to send it everything is different" I explain "it's still light outside, come, I'll have to tell my parents where I'm going" he says and I nod following him to the living room "mom, dad I want you to meet my friend, Nitix" Ben says introducing me "well hello... Uhm" Belle says not wanting to get my name wrong causing me to laugh a little "just call me Nix, it's much easier to say" I smile "I'm Belle, this is my husband, Adam formally known as the beast" I smile shaking there hands "it's lovely to meet you both, I'm sure you must think all VKs are bad as their parents but I can assure you I'm no trouble so I hope your fine with a VK being friends with your son," I tell them "of course it's alright," Belle says with a smile "anyways, mum, dad. I'm going out to show her where the post office is so she can post a letter to her mother, I wouldn't want her to get lost" Ben tells them "of course, just make sure your girlfriend doesn't get the wrong idea" Adam says patting Ben's shoulder before we leave "Ben, if you want I could check your future with Audrey. I know things that others may not" I mumble just loud enough for it to be heard "I'm sure everything is fine" I look at him "no, one of the villain kids will sabotage it, I'm not sure how who or why. I do know that due to it Audrey will break up with you however the future is never set in stone so I can be wrong and I don't fear it"
