"I want to congratulate each and everyone of you," says Professor Pernelle as he looks on at each of this year's students faces with melancholy. "For your dragon's successful hatching, so may you and your other half stay alive and healthy," ends the professor as he makes a prayer signal.

Clearing his throat, the professor continues, "this class will be an introduction to this academy for another 4 months. However, today you will be starting on your dragon specialization class, individual battle class which later leads to pair battle class, as well as other classes you yourself may be interested in." Pausing in wait to make sure his students are taking the information in, he then asks, "questions?"

A student near the front immediately raises her hand, "yes Hilda?"

The girl twirls her finger through her wavy rose colored hair and shyly asks, "will these special classes be made of students of our own year or would it include the senpais?"

Smiling with awareness of what his student is truly asking, the professor explains, "this is the only class made for beginners such as yourselves, the rest is a mixture of different year students. Though, sometimes an alumni would return and volunteer to help guide their kohai's.

Blushing in delight, Hilda quickly asks, "does that mean that Lady Kira may return to teach us the swords?"

The professor nods to which Hilda and her desk mate silently cheer in giddiness. He then asks, "anyone else?"

A student near the middle raises his hand, "yes Mateo?"

Mateo smiles broadly as he asks, "if we exceed in the classes, can we jump courses and be appointed ready to contribute to our kingdom?"

Sighing, the elder professor places a hand to smooth over his wrinkled forehead, "your vigor to improve is admirable, however it takes two years for the dragon to half way fully mature. Then possibly another year for you and your half to get used to each other's size and skills. Till then, you will be 'ready' to battle... however there may be the rare case in which our young will be pulled out of the academy to fight the overwhelmingly increased number of Shadow Monsters." Then adding in thought, he lowly mutters in disdain, "not to mention the brainless political battles over power."

A device with a gentle chirping noise went off in the class to let them know that the class was over.

As the students leave, Bella happily moves to Cairo's shoulder while making sure not to dig her tiny claws too much into his robe. As she purrs happily, Cairo couldn't help but laugh at seeing his Boo-Boo's excitement.

Ready to meet up with the other drakes? Ask's Cairo as he is followed by two of his flowers who each hatched a purple dragon.

Yes, I so badly want to see what they can do. I'm sure breathing poisonous fire is one of our skills, but what other combinations are out there?

Oh? Thinks Cairo as he subconsciously rubs a finger to his ruby ring. Maybe we'll be given a preview of that today.

Why is that? I ask as I turn my head to look at his eyes.

Well my Flowers are protective of me, especially the twins behind us..

Glancing behind us I watch as twin 1 and twin 2, both of straight black hair, look up at me with their dark brown eyes and give me a respectful nod. On each of their shoulders lies attentively tiny drakes.

I see... guards?

Humming, Cairo responds, more like elite assassins in training assigned by my good friend Drustan.

Oh ... Oh!

Yes, thankfully these two volunteered to guard me so they must like me, right?

Well, glancing back without moving my whole head this time, I kept observing them as we moved to the next class. One twin seems giddier than the other by showing a skip to her walk, while the other walks with an air of nobility. However, when a girl tries to reach out to Cairo's robe, one of the drakes rattles the end of his tail like a snake, emitting from there a maraca sound while hissing venomously from his tiny sharp mouth. The girl seems to have rapidly paled and fled inside of the other classrooms. At this the calm twin smirks while the other shows a gentle smile.

What dragons are they? Are they something I should look out for? This is the first time I've witnessed a human be so afraid of our kind.

Sighing, Cairo places one of his hands over my body at which emitted a purr from me. Truthfully at your current size, the dragonets could pose a problem. But the reason they're feared is not because of their size.. They tend to be small though the largest was probably of a human size. Anyway, they are noted down in the book of Dragons to be the most poisonous of your species and are very revengeful.

So they're small, more poisonous than me, and will bully to no end.. What about me? What dragon am I? I ask as I lift my tail to my front and shake it to see if it'll rattle. Not a dragonet. However, if I didn't have better control of my body, my tail could have stabbed my eyes with one of its pointed spikes.

Watching his innocent Boo-Boo mimic the dragonets warning tail shaking, Cairo immediately coughs into his closed hand to stop the incoming laughter. No Bellona, what you are is a mighty battle dragon known for their strength, their loyalty, and of being territorial over their possessions. You are of the largest breed called Western Dragon.

Huffing my chest out at knowing that I'll be that type of dragon, I suddenly glimpse back at the vision of us deathly lying together in the ashy ground. This time though, I can now spot one of the twins trying to support her heavily injured sister to one of the fallen buildings. Both crying at either our bodies or at the situation of hiding from the shadow monsters.

Snapping back to the present I growl. This time I'll be sure to protect what's mine. That witch would have no chance to sink her dirty claws at my half. Growling again, little puffs of purple smoke start coming out of my nose. Resulting in the twins dragonets to shake with agitation their own tails at the invisible threat seen by the battle drake.

Sensing his half's unease and sudden killing intent, Cairo wonders if there is a threat that he is not aware of in this academy. As his mother once said before she passed away, "your dragon will let you know of things either not known to you or of things you acknowledge but recklessly don't fear. That is our family dragon's gift."
