Harriet sighed as she glanced over toward the Isle. It had been years since she had stepped foot there, had been years since any of her siblings had called it home...and yet...there was a small part of her that was still drawn to it.
Maybe it was because that was where she'd been born? Maybe it was because that was where she'd met Sammy, the girl of her dreams and the woman she was lucky enough to be marrying that day? Or maybe it was because that was where her mother was buried and where her father still resided.
Her father...the notorious Captain James Hook of The Jolly Rodger. It had been years since Harriet had seen him or even heard from him. The last time she had even heard his name was when Harry had mentioned he'd paid their father a visit back when they were on the Isle getting Sammy's father to Auradon so he could be with his daughter and sons.
Is...is it wrong to feel jealous of your wife to be? Harriet thought as she briefly took her eyes off the Isle and over to where Sammy was standing with Smee and her brothers. Smee had been a key part in helping plan the wedding, going with Sammy to her dress fittings at Evie's or running the swim center if Harriet had a dress fitting. Anything he could do to remove any amount of stress from them, he did.
So why did Harriet feel a sense of longing every time she glanced at the Isle? Why did she feel like a little kid wanting her papa? He had clearly made his choice even though Harriet had sent him an invitation. She might have been drunk when she did so but that was besides the point.
The point was that he didn't come, she thought. His eldest daughter's getting married to the love of her life and he didn't come. And it's not as if he was ever against me with Sammy, though I don't think he knew either.
A part of her knew that it was probably better that her father didn't come to the wedding, that it would have made it too stressful for Harry and that might have prevented her brother from attending. Not that Harriet would have blamed him one bit if he had though she would have been a little disappointed that her last chance to have her family together had been crushed.
"Harri?"
Harriet looked away from the Isle as she heard a nickname she hadn't heard in years. It had been what her siblings called her when they were younger, when Harriet was too much for them to say.
"Harry?" Harriet asked, slightly shocked to see her brother standing there with his arm outstretched. Yes he was her Man of Honor but she thought he'd be standing at the alter watching them walk down.
Harry gave her a small smile. "If...if Captain James Hook won't get his head out of his arse long enough to come to his eldest child's wedding and walk you down the aisle...would it be okay if a Harrison James Hook walked you down instead?"
"Language Harry," Harriet said with a small chuckle but smiled as she took his arm. "You don't have to do this you know?"
"After everything you did to make sure CJ and I survived the Isle? You bet I do," Harry told her as they watched Smee walk down the aisle with Sammy. "Besides...you deserve to walk down the aisle with someone on your arm. You sacrificed your childhood to raise CJ after all, you shouldn't have to give up one more thing because our 'father' proved he's good for shit."
"You've got a blue streak going on huh? Would it kill you not to swear at my wedding?"
"I'm a pirate and two swear words is hardly a blue streak."
"It's a blue streak if I say it's a blue streak. Sammy doesn't want her brothers to pick up any bad language."
"Then why the hell did you invite Dustin? Out of all of the crew, he's the one you need to worry about possibly teaching the Smeelings some new vocabulary. Though I think Celia and the little Lord will make sure he follows the rules today."
