The Fighters

Intro

Lissa has been away for months, hiding after the unfortunate car crash that killed her family. She and her best friend Rose were the soul survivors. 

Today is the day that Lissa is coming back to the Academy, but she is not the only one returning...

"Shut up, it's fucking adorable", I hear my sister say as I climb up the steps towards the academy. As I reach the top, I see my little sister Rose and her best friend Lissa hugging as if their lives depended on it. 

"Well, looks like I'm not the only one who decided to come back today," I say with a huge grin on my face.

The gasps of surprise made me chuckle, but before I could move any further, I was pushed back by a man I'd never seen before. 

"Back up. Who. are. you?" The man says, his thick Russian accent coming through strong. 

I scoff in his face.

"Valerie. Fucking. Hathaway. Who the fuck are you?" I say, jabbing his chest. 

"Dimitri, it's alright. She is a friend." Lissa calls from behind him

"More like family idiot," I say, looking him dead in the eye.

"Geez, sis, that was a bit rude."

I move past the man, apparently called Dimitri and smile at my sister before wrapping her in a bone-crushing hug.

"Shut up," I say, laughing

"Don't forget about me?" Lissa says behind me

I let go of Rose before turning around to face Lissa and wrapping her in my embrace.

"Never", I mumble, my face squashed in her shoulder.

I hear a throat clearing from next to us; putting Lissa down, I turn and smile widely.

"Hi, Victor"

"Valerie," He says, nodding

I raise an eyebrow before tackling him in a hug as well, earning a laugh from Him, Rose and Lissa.

"You're a two-year-old", Rose states

I stare at her, shocked

"I'm five, thank you very much."

Earning a laugh from everyone, even a small twitch upwards of the lips from the stone-cold guardian.

 I walked with Lissa on one side of me and Rose on the other, linking their arms.

"What brings you here because last time I checked, you graduated a few years ago, and you should be guarding Moroi right now."

I smile down at Rose.

"Well, maybe I just had to ensure you would stay out of trouble this year."

I hear Victor snort behind us, and Lissa and Rose raise an eyebrow.

"Or maybe I got called back here for reasons unknown."
