Chapter One

It was December, and the snow had already begun. Wu Ling was at her dorm, dressed in a thick hoodie jacket and pajamas, her gaze fixed on her worn out laptop, currently focused on something. Her gaze and posture are so serious that one might mistake her for doing important schoolwork.

When one looks at her laptop, however, one can see a large number of words that resemble a novel.

Wu Ling is, in fact, reading a novel, and is completely engrossed in it. Her coffee is to her right, held so tightly in her palms that it could break at any moment if she applied more force to it.

Her gaze was unwaveringly fixed on her screen, until a moment later, she began to frown, clearly upset. But it only lasted a second before her expression relaxed.

But then her brows creased again, much worse than before, and it eased again. And this cycle continued for half an hour, until Wu Ling finished what she was reading with a dumbfounded expression.

Her current emotional state could be described as chaotic. And the reason for it was a novel.

You're probably wondering what book she was reading. It's just a dog-blooded novel with a harem, a hero, villains, and the types that only deprived idiots read. This is correct.

So, how did our dear Wu Ling end up reading this brainless novel? So, let's go back a month.

When class hadn't yet started, all the students in Wu Ling's classroom were chatting like a swarm of bees, making quite a racket, in her opinion. And, predictably, she was the exception. She is currently reading a book and taking notes, which is something that most of her classmates are used to.

They haven't understood how she can study and read educational books all day until now. She was always at the top of the school rankings. A fantastic role model student. Despite this, they do not envy her and instead look up to her. Despite being an orphan and impoverished, she worked and studied hard. Her circumstances and background never gave her cause to complain to the world, and she is simply doing everything she can to succeed in life one day. Furthermore, despite her uninteresting personality, Wu Ling's classmates did not perceive her as arrogant and domineering, as most people do.

She is still a good person at heart who helps her classmates when they have a problem as long as it is related to their studies.

Let's get back to why she read a brainless novel. One of her classmates was skimming a novel website and reading synopsis when she came across a familiar name in a particular novel.

And, indeed, the name is identical to Wu Ling's, with the same spellings and meanings. As a result, her classmate decided to show Wu Ling about it and have her read it for a change. And, of course, our beloved Wu Ling ignored it at first.

As a result, that classmate pestered her every day to read it, to the point where Wu Ling was sick of it and couldn't stand it any longer and just read it. Wu Ling's plan was to read a chapter and then move on. Who knew she'd be so engrossed in reading a character with the same name on the novel. To the point where it had arrived at the current situation. She kept reading until the character with her name died. And the novel's 'Wu Ling' only lasted a month.

Wu Ling was taken aback, not because the character had only been alive for a month, but because of the circumstances surrounding her death. It made her uncomfortable to see a character with her name chase a man insanely and do horrible things that led to her death at the hands of that man's lover.

It was her first novel, and it was also the first time she became enraged for an unknown reason. She realizes that being upset over a trivial matter is stupid and unusual, but she can't help herself.

To calm herself, she closed the website and blacklisted her classmate who had recommended such a stupid novel. Then she picked up her math book and began studying while drinking coffee, deciding to forget what she had just read.

And she was fine after a few minutes. That is not surprising given her personality. She didn't make a big deal out of it, instead focusing on what was important until evening arrived.

Despite being a study maniac, she made sure to get enough sleep every night in order to maintain a healthy body and mind. She goes to bed at 8:00 p.m. every night and gets up at 5:00 a.m. to do some reading and reviewing in order to sharpen and train her memory.

It was almost 6:00 p.m., which was her dinner time. So she paused her readings, prepared a meal for herself, and resumed her studies. When the clock hit 7:30, Wu Ling began organizing her materials and took a bath. She dried her hair before falling asleep on her bed.

Wu Ling, a seemingly ordinary student, would never have expected to travel to the setting of a novel she had just finished.

Cultivation stages in this world were split into nine stages—Qi Gathering, Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Core Formation, Nascent Soul, Deity Transformation, Body Unity, Void Boundary, and Mahayana. Each stage had nine levels. After you broke through the ninth level of the Mahayana stage, the heavens would send down a tribulation, and if you passed that you could ascend to the immortal realm. It's said that immortals were also split into Wandering Immortal, Heavenly Immortal, Golden Immortal, Great Golden Immortal, Immortal Lord, and Immortal Emperor.
