Law sighed as he had listened to the plan, your words calculated, but still grasping at straws because everything have to go as you had anticipated to succeed. "There are too many 'ifs', (y/n)-ya." The man grumbled, a cup of coffee resting between his hands. It had been his third since being here and you were amazed he might still be able to sleep, even if that thought was fleeting with his dark rings under his eyes. "How did you even manage to get him to agree to it?" He wasn't asking you, merely muttering to himself as his gaze left your face with another sigh. Upon hearing his opinion, you started to doubt the plan as well.
"We.. didn't really think he would be sentenced to death, to be honest.. At least, we didn't talk about that part." Law's eyes snapped back at you, his brows furrowed and scowl in place as if to tell you your group was too stupid for not even considering that possibility. Your shoulder slumped a bit, eyes downcast as you let your turmoil of emotions show in your face and in your eyes. "I know.. It was naïve to think this wouldn't happen, being too optimistic and such. It's a long stretch, but I had read it was possible before, why not now?"
"Who says I would be the one they'd call? We can't let even more people in on it." He said through gritted teeth.
"Kid will mention you in the documentation about Killer." At least, that's what he said he would do. You weren't even sure what his role would be at the moment, not having received any form of update on their part. Law growled, putting his coffee down in front of him before he rubbed his face tiredly. You started to wonder how he was even holding up at the moment. You knew he was busy all the time and were lucky to get a hold of him, but your heart started to reach out for him. After a while, Law looked back at you, his eyes dulled a bit.
"Fine." Your eyes lit up at his answer, a grin starting to show on your face. "But they will pay handsomely and I don't ever want to do them a favour again." Law growled, cutting you off before you could even say something. "Besides, I have a hitlist myself. They have to clear it." Your grin morphed into a scowl yourself.
"You want to get him out for murder and make him do that shit again?!" Law's smirk appeared on your defensiveness.
"Oh yes, I can't dirty my hands myself, now can I?" You gritted your teeth, holding your breath before letting it flow from your nose angrily, trying to compose yourself quickly.
"Fine." You spat out, glaring at the man in question. You were stuck otherwise and you knew Killer shouldn't deserve this, at least that's how you wanted to see this thing as. Yes, he was a murderer, but he didn't do it because he enjoyed it, right? Law's tattooed hand reached for yours to seal the deal and you looked at the limb before his eyes with slight disgust. With a sigh, you took hold of the hand in front of you, squeezing a bit too tight for comfort and you saw the flicker in Law's eyes as his smirk widened. "I hate this." You grumbled.
"Welcome to my world, (y/n)-ya." Law said, sitting back in his chair as he regarded you once more, emptying his mug. His eyes turned slightly warmer, more familiar towards you. "Now that business is out of the way, tell me what kind of stupid all of you had encountered." You huffed, crossing your arms as you rested against the back of your chair as well, mirroring the person in front of you except for the drink.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" You mused, tapping your foot on the ground restlessly as you let your eyes wander over the room, watching the huge man in front of the door.
