"Isn't he beautiful?" Hagrid asked. "Say hello to Buckbeak."

"Hagrid," Ron started. "What exactly is that?"

"It's a hippogriff." Cassandra answered.

"Great job, Miss Rose." Hagrid congratulated. "First thing you want to know about a hippogriff is that they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do. Now who'd like to come and say hello?"

The entire class stepped back besides Harry and Cassandra. They weren't paying attention to their classmates and were off in their own little worlds.

"Well done, you two. Well done." Hagrid said to the two.

The two looked back and noticed that their peers had stepped back.

"Come on now." Hagrid urged. "Now, you have to let him make the first move. It's only polite. So step up. Give him a nice bow. Then you wait and see if he bows back. If he does, you can go touch him. If not, well, we'll get to that later."

Cassandra stepped forward, practically dragging Harry with her. She felt stupid as she bowed to the hippogriff in front of her. She noticed Harry following her bow. They waited for what seemed forever.

Buckbeak screeched, scaring Cassandra. Her heart started to do somersaults.

"Step back, guys, step back." Hagrid said, hurriedly.

The two stepped back and Harry stepped on a twig, snapping it in half. Cassandra stopped walking back, the fear rising even more.

"Keep back," Hagrid advised. "Keep still. Oh! Well done, you two, well done!"

Cassandra didn't understand what Hagrid had meant until she looked up and saw Buckbeak bowing back to them. Hagrid had then tossed a ferret to Buckbeak and he took it gratefully.

"Right. I think you can go and pat him now." Hagrid urged. "Go on, don't be shy."

Cassandra looked at Harry and then slowly started walking towards Buckbeak with her hand out in front of her. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she walked closer to the creature. As she stood right in front of the hippogriff, he let out a cry. Cassandra didn't flinch or run away, she just stood there.

Cassandra then allowed Buckbeak to come to her. Her hand was placed on his nose and she smiled. Harry followed behind Cassandra and did the same. Buckbeak was officially introduced to Harry and Cassandra safely.

"I think he may let you take a ride now." Hagrid said, picking up Cassandra, then Harry. He placed the two on Buckbeak's back. "Don't pull out any of his feathers, he doesn't like that. Go Buckbeak now."

Buckbeak leapt into the air, soaring above the trees. Harry held onto Cassandra's waist tightly, afraid of landing on the ground. As they were flying, Cassandra looked down on the Hogwarts grounds and immediately regretted it. She was afraid of heights, but for some reason not when she was on a broomstick.

"This is so cool!" Harry exclaimed, letting go of Cassandra's waist.

They then flew so close to the black lake, where they could touch the water beneath them. Cassandra never felt so alive. She was grateful for coming to Hogwarts now. She gets to experience a lot more things than if she was being homeschooled.

They landed back near Hagrid's house and their peers were there to greet them.

"That was terrifying!" Ron exclaimed, hugging Cassandra. He was a very touchy person.

"You're not so dangerous are you, ya big ugly brute?" Draco Malfoy asked Buckbeak as he walked up to him.

Buckbeak didn't react well and went on his hind legs, kicking and scratching Draco.

"It's killed me! It's killed me!" Draco whined as he laid on the ground.

"Hagrid, he must be taken to the infirmary!" Cassandra exclaimed.

"Ah yes, alright." Hagrid said. He picked up Draco and they went off to the infirmary.

"Hey Harry, where you off to?" Cassandra asked, joining Harry in the hallways.

"Quidditch practice," Harry answered. "Oh my gosh, I just had a brilliant idea! You should try out for the team. We're down a chaser. Alicia Spinnet isn't doing so well. She's taken the season off. If you do better than her, you might just be able to keep her spot."

"Oh alright, I'll try out I guess." Cassandra shrugged. "Can I go right now?"

"Yes you can," Harry answered. "There's extra uniforms in the changing rooms that you could change into. Even if you don't make the team you could still have a uniform. Just use this spell to put your name on the back."

"Last name right?"

"Yeah last name." Cassandra debated if she should put Rose or Snape. Snape was her true name, but she would also be revealing her last name to possibly the whole school. She knew her dad wouldn't approve.

When she got to the changing room, she picked out a uniform and the number was six. She put the name "Rose" on the back, deciding to not go with Snape. She then changed and walked out onto the field.

Out on the field was Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, Fred and George, and Harry. Cassandra felt intimidated with everyone staring at her as she walked out.

"Oliver is that you?" Cassandra asked. She ran towards Oliver and engulfed him in a hug.

"Cassie! I can't believe you're here." Oliver exclaimed, his Scottish accent thick. "It's wonderful that you're here. And you'll be trying out for chaser? That's even better. I'm not biased though."

"Okay, if you say so." Cassandra shrugged.

"Now let's get ready to play." Oliver announced. "We will not be going easy on Cassandra Rose. In fact, we're going to play our hardest."

Cassandra mounted her broom and flew off into the air. The quaffle was soon passed to her and she dodged Katie Bell multiple times, not yet letting go of the quaffle. She shot the quaffle into the air and scored.

"Hey Wood! This is too easy!" Cassandra shouted.

Oliver shook his head and winked at Angelina Johnson. Angelina was one of Gryffindor's best quidditch players and now Cassandra would be facing her. Cassandra knew she could win. She had been playing quidditch as long as she had been reading books. And that was definitely a long time.

Soon the scrimmage was over and Cassandra had done well. She was very proud of herself and felt confident that she would make the team.

"Cassandra, we have all made a vote on whether or not you made the team. We have decided that you will be our seventh member." Oliver stated.

"Thank you!" Cassandra hugged Oliver tightly. She was very excited to now be a part of the quidditch team.
