Your POV

"When I grow up I want to be an idol,"  he said while he pumped his legs on the swing. I let out a small chuckle and let go of the monkey bars and ran to him.

"With your dance skills you're definitely not passing those auditions," I beamed.

He swung himself off the swings and let out a sigh.

"I don't even know why I'm friends with you, you always put me down," he pouted.

I immediately felt bad and apologized.

"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings like that."

"I will only accept your apology if you go over there," he pointed at the little shop across the street from the playground, "and get me an ice cream."

"Fine, but you need to cross the street with me."

He smiled happily and agreed to go with you.

The street was never busy so  we didn't hesitate to  cross without looking both ways. This was a mistake which lead to him getting injured.

He was quickly sent to the hospital.

Me and my parents and his parents were waiting for the doctors to finish surgery.

The doctors came out, the adults rushed to the doctors.

"He might not be able to use his legs in the future."

That was all I was able to hear out of their conversation. I immediately felt guilty if I just hadn't  said those words to him, I wouldn't have needed to get ice cream for him. Which meant he wouldn't have gotten hit by that car.

His parents didn't blame me for any of this, they blamed the driver for not making sure there wasn't anyone crossing before driving.

After this accident mom and dad made me move to the states hoping I'd  forget that this happened. But with such an event most weren't going to forget easily.

Years later, I still remember the accident but I've completely forgotten  the way he looked, the way he smiled at my stupid remarks, and the way he looked at me,  I've forgotten how he looked.

There were many instances where I tried so hard to just even get a single memory of how he looked to resurface from the back of my brain. But nothing worked... I even tried asking my parents but they refused to even let anything slip out.

All I know is that he is 'doing fine' and has 'recovered', I hope those weren't words that they used to make me feel less bad about how I might ruined his life or chance at being an idol.  Those two were honestly the same things, debuting as an idol was what he lived for.

I just finished university and got a job as an assistant for the director of R&D one of the biggest talent agencies in all of East Asia  When I showed my parents their reply to my job application they phoned all our relatives to brag to them about how me, their daughter was going to work for a big talent agency.

This was the most proud I've ever seen my parents , graduating university and getting a job at the biggest talent agency in East Asia that many would die for.

What parent wouldn't be proud?

My flight just landed and I was waiting for a taxi with my luggage outside.
