“Wait up Kaito-nii!” Len called as his older friend walked down the street at a fast pace. “You walk way too slow Len.” Said the bluenette slowing his pace a bit to let the little blonde shota catch up. “I don’t walk slow! You just walk too fast” Len said with a childish pout and his cheeks puffed out. ‘Len is so adorable’ Kaito thought to himself. He was pulled out of his thoughts when Len tugged on his long, blue scarf. “Kaito? What’s wrong your face is red?”
“It’s….just the cold air is irritating my skin.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes I’m sure.” And with that the two vocaloids walked the rest of the way home in silence.
When they got home they weren’t even in the house for two minutes when Miku came up to them and glomped Kaito. “Welcome back Kaito!” she said in her usual high-pitched, happy go-lucky tone, that annoyed Len every time he heard it. Anger boiled up inside Len. He wanted to be the only one to hold Kaito like that. “Damn her. Kaito is mine not hers.” Len mumbled to himself as he stomped up the stairs to his room and slammed his door shut.
His twin sister, Rin, noticed his sudden change of mood and went to see what was wrong. Even though she already had a pretty good idea what his problem was.
Rin knocked on his door a few times but Len was too angered to answer “Len I’m coming in.” She opened the door to see Len lying on his bed staring at the ceiling with his stereo blasting.
Meanwhile Kaito was in the living room with Miku, who was getting on the blue haired male’s nerves. She was sitting so close to him she might as well be in his lap. Kaito wished Len would sit close to him like that. Speaking of Len, Kaito was worried about Len because he looked really sad and angry when he stormed out earlier. Kaito got up and went upstairs to see Len while ignoring Miku’s calls.
“Rin! I was listening to that music!”
“Len, we need to talk.” Len sat up and faced his twin. “What do we need to talk about?” he asked in a bored tone. “Len I’m worried about you. Every time Miku gets close to Kaito you lock yourself up in here. You nee-”
“There’s nothing wron-”
“Shut up and let me finish! You need tell me what’s wrong so I can help you.” Len stayed silent and looked down at the floor. “It’s Kaito isn’t it?”
Kaito was about open Len’s bedroom door when he heard Rin’s voice. “You love him don’t you?” there was a long pause then Rin said sternly “Len tell me the truth!” there was another long pause before Len gave up and said “Of course I love him. I have for years! But….he loves Miku…”
“How do you know?”
“Do you see them?!? They’re always together! We weren’t even in the house TWO MINUTES and she was already hugging and greeting him!” by this time Kaito had heard enough and went to his room. “Len loves someone else?” Kaito asked himself as he entered his room. “What does this person have that I don’t??”
“Len, you need to tell him that you love him.”
“I know but what if he doesn’t return my feelings or worse what if he really does love Miku and rejects me for her!”Rin’s stern look softened and she pulled her twin into a hug “Then he’d be missing out on loving an amazing person like you.”
“Thanks Rin.” Len said before getting up to find Kaito. He was about to leave the room when Rin stopped him. “Where are you going?” Len mentally facepalmed ‘why would she even ask that after the discussion we just had?’ Len asked himself while giving Rin a quizzical look and replying “To go see Kaito-nii of course.” She responded with a grin and left the room.
Len ran down the hallway as fast as his legs could go. When he got to Kaito’s door he waited a minute to catch his breath before knocking on the door. When there was no answer Len knocked a little louder while saying “Kaito-nii it’s me, Len” still no answer. Len was about to walk away thinking that Kaito wasn’t in his room when the door opened, revealing a red-faced, puffy-eyed Kaito. “Kaito-nii what’s wrong? You look like hell.” Len said while walking into the room. “It’s nothing I'm fine.” The older male replied, sitting on his bed. Len sat down next to him, looking at him for a moment before saying “It’s obviously not nothing if you’ve been crying.”
Kaito sighed. He couldn’t lie to Len. “There’s this guy I really, really like but I think he might be in love with someone else.”
“Oh.” Len was heartbroken when he heard this, but he wanted Kaito to be happy so he decided to help him with his problem.
“Who is it?” Len asked while staring at his hands. “What?” Kaito asked as if he was being pulled back into reality. “I said who is it. Who do you like?”
“Why do you care?” Len was hurt but he didn’t show it. “I thought that maybe I could talk to this person and see if he likes you back.” Len said trying to hold abck the tears that were threatening to fall. “How you could you talk to the person if the person I like is you?”
It took Len a minute to register what Kaito had just said. Once he did he looked up. “Really?” he asked his blue eyes wide and filled with hope. All Kaito did was nod.
Without warning the younger blonde smiled and tackled his older friend into a hug. Kaito wrapped his arms around the boy’s thin waist and asked “Does this mean you like me back?”
“Yes it does.” Len then remembered the conversation they had earlier and asked “Why did you think I loved someone else?” Kaito lifted his head up from Len’s shoulder “I overheard you and Rin talking and you said that you loved someone but they loved someone else.” Len beamed and kissed Kaito’s nose. “I was talking about you when I said that silly.”
Kaito smiled as Len snuggled into his chest. After a few minutes of silence Kaito looked at Len to see that he had fallen asleep “I love you.” Kaito whispered before closing his eyes and drifting to sleep.
