A loud explosion shook the ship as hundreds of silent torpedoes whisked across the debris shield.
"Keep the magnetic polarity strong!" a rushed feminine voice said, standing at a lit control board, tapping various buttons with the small clatter of claws.
"We need to make it stronger!" a strong voice cried from a far distance.
"I am keeping it steady, we do not want the magnet chambers to explode!" a weaker, but more menacing and long winded voice exclaimed beside the feminine one.
"Then do it already, Death!" a harsh female voice snapped from behind.
Death tapped a flurry of buttons sporadically with his claws. No sounds came from the pressed buttons, but instead they lit up a little with blue energy. Holographic screens appeared upon the debris shield, one over another, as advanced code made of various symbols appeared line by line.
Another screen appeared with three big symbols and a sharp exclamation mark. Death eyed the new screen and instantly continued typing, entirely focused as the others in the control room continued to snap orders and commands.
Another burst of sound erupted, this time closer to their current station as another wave of torpedoes, coupled with little drones that flew past, firing a cacophony of bolts that imploded against an invisible shield.
The shock of the scene pushed Death harder and harder as his individual fingers and claws flew across the light board. Finally after the next horrible seconds another screen appeared and after a quick scan Death slammed a big green button.
A loud whirring sound vibrated throughout the control room and the lights flickered to a dim light and that dimness threatened to engulf all of its beholders into utter histeria. But everything went still and the only sound that dared to make itself apparent was a small whimper.
Boom! Boom Boom!
The light of torpedoes flashed in the darkness and the sound of metal crashing and scratching nearly burst Death's ears, making them ring horribly. Everything echoed in his ears, his head throbbed, and his thoughts became numb.
"Run for the escape pods!" words rung through his head.
"Where is Death!?"
"Fire!"
"We're caught in a gravity field!"
"By what?"
"A black hole!"
Alarms blared as the lights completely went out. His mind began to clear as he heard one of his female friends cry for him worriedly.
"Death!"
"Lamprey," he almost squeaked. A horrible sound that made him cringe.
"Death!" a purple and blue figure jumped over a pile of burning debris. A long tail with a large fin at the end waved through the air as it leaped across the messy room.
Death latched onto their arm as it reached out and pushed himself up as his head throbbed again. They hopped across scattered debris in the dark, the smoke muddying Death's vision. They rushed down a hall and around a corner until they stopped and heard the poof of releasing pressure. A common sign of a pressurized door opening. An escape pod.
He let himself be guided into the pod and rested into a floating sphere inside of the aerodynamic pod that rested in a slot inside the wall of the ship, which was kept stable by magnetism. He only remembered these facts because he designed these pods for this exact occasion.
