"But mom isn't this a bit much-?" I said shocked that my parents were giving me the house they grew up in.
"Of course not. We're going to be living with your grandparents out of state, since they are getting a tad older, and who better to give a house thats been in our family almost 2 generations to?" My mother told me very sure about her choice.
"How am I supposed to afford it-?" I asked her puzzled. Since Im a 17 year old with a medium paying job. It's surely not enough to keep the maintenance on this place.
"Well we'll be paying for it since we will be living with your grandparents. It shouldn't be too hard, but we're off love you sweety, I hope you love the home" she said smiling at me and I couldn't help but smile back saying love you. My mother has always had a contagious smile. So with that I saw my parents off. They were going to South Carolina, I currently live in Minnesota which is a 19-22 hour drive depending of traffic and such.
I start packing my stuff from my tiny apartment and moving it to my new home, which took about an hour or so. There was still some stuff inside the house, like old magazines, some things that were kept in the home from the 1800's and up. Most of that's in the attic though and hasn't been touched for decades.
My parents had not touched the house for a very long time, so it's covered in dust. They were apparently just waiting for me to be old enough, so they could pass the house down to me. I got my broom and dustpan, that I brought from my apartment, and started sweeping the mess and cleaning everything.
About 4 hours later of deep cleaning it was sorta clean. The best i could get ut for right now. "That was exhausting." I sighed sitting on the couch in the living room, stretching a bit in doing so. I checked the time on my cellphone and see it says 5:48pm. "It took me that long!? Damn I'll have to go out and order food I guess. Ive got no food here yet". I thought about where to go and decided on Burger King. I pick up my keys, putting my phone in my pocket and going out the door making sure too lock it before going in my car and leaving.
An hour later I get back home and unpack my things then headed to bed. At 6am, I wake up hearing something coming from downstairs. "Oh my gosh...someone broke in I thought I locked the door..." I mumbled to myself, grabbing a bat ready to attack the sudden intruder.
