she stood at the door trying her best to keep her composure. she had the driver stop the car and she rode the bus over. she didn't want kyung soon, to know where she was, so that he couldn't tell kang.
the door opens and hyungwon looks at her knowing this look. kang had once again successfully broken her and hyungwon had hated him even more for doing that to her.
she instantly walks in and hugs him as she sobs into his chest. "nari?" he says his voice cracking as she watches her crumble in front of him for the second time. "nari, tell me what happened? what's wrong?"
"they know," she sobs. "they all know."
he closes the door and holds her close to him as he lets her cry.
it wasn't long until he had her seated at the sofa by the window and he was handing her a cup of tea. "what happened?" he asks sitting on the chair across from her as she finally calmed down.
"i went to his parents for the birthday dinner, alone."
"he didn't show up?" he asks and she shakes her head no.
she looks down at the tea, "no. even when he told me he would. it was so embarrassing, every event has been like this. i just feel like everyone knows that he's cheating on me. the way they looked at me, like they pitied me. it was just so.." embarrassing.
hyungwon sighs, "nari, you only feel this way because you know. you know that, right? there's no way they know."
"his mom asked me about it. i told her he hasn't been home lately." she sips the tea. "she told me she'd talk to him. then she stopped me before i left."
"what did she say?"
she bites down on her lip, "she told me i had to have tea with her on sunday. i think she wants to talk to me about kang and honestly..." she pauses. "i don't think i can take this. i don't think i can handle that conversation. i can't take the blame for this."
hyungwon looks at her and feels for her, she's tried her best to keep composed but she couldn't. as soon as he heard her voice he left the apartment and came straight here to wait for her. he hated seeing her like this. he hated kang for making her feel this way. she didn't deserve this. "you don't know what she wants to talk to you about. don't over think it."
she nods feeling her cheeks get warm, "i'm sorry. i shouldn't have ran here." suddenly she felt embarrassed. "you're right i'm probably over thinking." she stands up. "thanks for the tea. i'm sorry."
"no nari, that's not what i meant," he quickly stood up in front of her. "please stay here, and calm down ok?"
"no i should get home," she whispers.
"i'm not going to force you to stay but i think you should and calm yourself." he says. "please i think it's best."
she looks at him and nods. she had a seat again knowing he was right.
"how did you get here?"
"the bus."
"the bus? this late? jesus, nari, you're probably wearing thousands of dollars in jewelry." he scolds her seeing how nice she was dressed. "you should have told me i would have picked you up."
"i don't know i wasn't thinking i just didn't want kang to know where i am." she whispers looking down.
he looks at her, "i understand that nari but you have to be careful. has he tried to call you?"
she shrugs, "my phone is in my bag, so i don't know and honestly i don't care. he knew i was mad and he still didn't show up."
he sighs noting she looked uncomfortable and cold, "uhm do you want to borrow something to change into? i have makeup remover in the bathroom. you can stay here until you want to go ok?"
