"Mommy, Ellen is throwing a tantrum!"
A woman with thick raven black hair turned to her eldest daughter.
"Why is she upset, Edilia?" She asked as she wiped her hands on her apron.
"Because I told her I will marry a prince. She said I can't because she'll be one marrying the prince!"
Her mother laughed. She found her youngest daughter lying on the floor screaming, her limbs kicking everything around her and fist punching the air.
Their mother sighed. Ellen was four, old enough not to throw this kind of tantrums.
"Baby, come here." She took her in her arms as she continued flaying. "It's alright, the prince have siblings too, you can marry both princess."
After Ellen calmed down. She scurried her daughters to their rooms. Both of their beds are separated only by a bedside table with lamp.
After tucking them both on their beds their mother took a book, both girls yelled in excitement, somehow they both love this particular story.
"When is daddy coming home?"
"Daddy still have lots of work. So shall we start?"
"Yes!" Yelled the girls.
"Once upon a time, everyone lived peacefully and in harmony, even demons, roam the streets freely. Then a baby were born, half demon and half fae, he thought he has to lead the world because he found his kind to be more powerful, higher than the rest, he looks down at everyone. He started to gain political power, assasinating the race leaders who won't bow down to him. Until the Oracle told to the people how to defeat the evil warlock. The War of Race lasted for three decades, losing millions of people in every race."
"I don't get it mommy, the Oracle already told them the way to defeat him, why did the war lasted too long?" Edilia asked. Her sister Ella was already dozing off. It was clear as day to her mother that her Edilia will be a Scholar.
"The way to defeat him was no easy task, darling. The Oracle as always, speak in a riddle. They took years to find the right way. And thats when the Scholars, the race of a Librarians were born. They kept the history, records, everything in order. And most importantly their weapons are their own minds." Her mother pointed the top of her head.
"I wanna be a Librarian." Edilia jumped on her bed.
"Edilia, your sister is sleeping, calm down. Now let me finish my story so you could sleep."
She nodded, tucking herself back on her bed. "When the evil warlock was defeated. Those who defeated her was made leaders and the first council were born. But before he died he vow to take his revenge. Warlocks can both use light magic and dark. And they strongly belive in reincarnation. So to avoid another one being reborn the council decided to banish the Demons to hell and cast out the Warlocks to a different realm, they were forbidden to make an offspring, anyone who will be suspected or caught will face death."
"Why does it felt like it's unfair, mommy?"
"I know, baby. Not all fae and warlock joined the evil side, some fought with us. But you will understand when you're older. Now sleep."
She kissed her childrens forehead before leaving their room.
After a few minutes her husband came home.
"How was it?" She asked.
"They were found."
"By the council?"
He nodded grimly. "One of them manage to escape."
"How about the decision about the Slums?"
He sighed. "It was postponed. They were busy catching the runaway."
"Why would they bother with him?"
"It's not a him, Emilia."
Emilia eyes widened, horrified. "Is she..." She didn't have the bravery to finish the sentence. "It's their fault for shunning the two races!"
"I know. And they don't know if she might be carrying an offspring, so they needed to find her. They killed the him, Emilia. And there's nothing I can do nor Lord Veriya."
Emilia closed her eyes and sobbed.
