"What am I to do?" Ecthelion muttered in his chair. "I need all the help I can gather."
"Saruman is not of help, and he is not to be trusted." Thorongil said.
Ecthelion just waved his hands and sat himself up in the chair. He pursed his lips as he looked up at me, and I caught his glance.
"What do you suggest, Mordorien?" Ecthelion asked, almost hesitant to say my name.
I nodded at him as I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and walked towards Ecthelion. "Have you ever heard of Gandalf the Grey." I asked him.
"But what of Gandalf the Grey do you know?" Thorongil quickly asked me.
"I know that Gandalf the Grey is a wizard you can trust." I said. "If you want help from a wizard, go to him. Saruman is nothing but trouble."
Ecthelion just sighed and looked over at Thorongil.
"What is wrong?" Thorongil asked.
"My son, Denethor. He is adamant against Gandalf. Told me he brings nothing but trouble." Ecthelion explained.
"If I may?" Thorongil said, and Ecthelion nodded. "Gandalf the Grey is the wisest wizard I know. His knowledge can be useful against Sauron, whereas Saruman's can be influenced by Sauron. See the difference?"
"But Denethor— If I am to have my son's help..." Ecthelion sighed and shook his head.
"Also, if I may?" I then interjected, and Ecthelion grumbled at me in acceptance. "It is true, Gandalf the Grey may bring trouble.. but Saruman is trouble. Gandalf will willingly be by your back to fight Sauron because he knows of the danger that Sauron is. Saruman is the type of man to lead your towards him and push you down at Sauron's feet." I said, and I saw Ecthelion was considering to believe me.
Just then, a guard came jogging down a passage way and towards the Steward. He bowed first and then leaned over into the Steward's ear. Ecthelion nodded and the guard jogged off, and the Steward sighed.
"I need a day to gather my thoughts. I will debate about this issue of the wizards with my son, and we'll come back to this tomorrow high noon. You're off, go on." The Steward said and waved his hand at the two of us.
I then gave a slight bow and took my leave from the Hall of the Kings. I took an empty hallway to the right and entered an empty side garden of the castle. The sun was bright and warm today, and it almost felt like everything was normal, until I kept walking along the castle side and saw dark clouds in the distance. I sighed to myself as I bowed my head, slowing raising my black hood over my head, and walked down an empty corridor. My heels tapped loudly in the silence of this far street, and I casually walked down as set of stairs. Wind then blew passed me and I suddenly got the feeling I was being followed. I continued down the long staircase when I heard a heavy footstep behind me.
"Hey." He called out, but I kept walking. "Mordorien."
I paused on the stairs, only a few till the bottom, and slightly raised up my head. I held the side of my hood, peeking towards my side and saw Thorongil atop the stairs.
"I need a word with you." He said as he began walking down the stairs towards me.
"Can't it wait till tomorrow with Ecthelion?" I said and turned back around to finish walking down the stairs.
I reached the street yet heard quick nimble footsteps behind me. Thorongil then quickly appeared at my side and I huffed in annoyance.
"No, it cannot wait." He said.
I bit the inside of my cheek before I glanced up at Aragorn. He was a good foot taller than me, and his grey eyes were piercing into my own, and he tilted his head at me.
"How do you know of Gandalf the Grey?" Thorongil asked me.
"Like anybody else does. He's not a mystery, everyone knows of the Grey Wizard." I said, trying to dismiss his suspicions.
"No. The way you spoke of him... You know of him, you have history with this wizard." He accused me.
"And so what if I do?" I said. "It's a good thing to be trusted by a wizard. Don't you think?"
"Gandalf shall be wrong. You cannot be trusted." Thorongil said and squinted his eyes at me.
"What have I done that you don't trust? I've only come to Minas Tirith to help." I said.
"I know of where you come from." He then growled at me. "Your kind cannot be trusted."
Now is when I started to get mad at Thorongil. I squinted my eyes at him and took a menacing step forwards. He leaned down and made our noses only inches from each other.
"I'd be very careful with your next words, Thorongil." I threatened.
I felt my hand begin pulsing with power beneath my cloak, and the wind started to pick up around us. He never broke eye contact as he stepped towards me and I was forced to take a step back.
"I know who you are... witch." He spat at me.
I then shot out my arm and pushed Thorongil back with my power. He flew backwards and I pinned his body against the wall.
"And I know of who you are!" I called out.
My voice made the air start whistling around us as it sped up. Aragorn struggled against the wall, but I closed my fist and held him there tightly. The wind rushed passed and voices started to call out.
"Heir. Heir. Heir. Heir."
"You are Aragorn." I said, and Thorongil stared menacingly into my eyes. "Son of Arathorn. And YOU are Isildur's heir!"
I then took a step towards Thorongil as he was stuck against the wall, and halted for the wind to stop. Everything went quiet and he stared down at me.
"Now, do you want to see what a witch can really do?" I spat at him.
He grunted at me, and I took a step back as I opened my fist. Thorongil slid down the wall and roughly landed on his feet on the street top. He then quickly shot up and I held up my finger, which instantly made Thorongil freeze as he thought about his next move. He then held up his finger at me, and slowly raised up his arm. I slowly put my finger down and took a step backwards, and Thorongil did the same.
"If you want answers, you can ask like a man. Not revert to threatening. That's never going to work with me." I told him.
Thorongil just pursed his lips together and observed me for a moment. He then huffed at himself and began smoothing down his clothing that got ruffled from the wind I brought it.
"I will not speak a word about this..." Thorongil said.
"Neither will I." I said.
Thorongil then turned around and began his walk back up the stairs. I just watched as he walked away and noticed he paused in the middle of the stairway.
"What is it now?" I asked him.
"Gandalf—" He began and then put his hand on his chest. "Gandalf is a great friend of mine. He has never once lied to me. Yet, he has also kept hidden that he befriended a... witch. So how must you know of him?" Thorongil asked, but he was calmer this time.
"Well..." I said as I remembered how I met Gandalf the Grey. "I met him as a young girl. When I least expected it, he was there. I sure thought he was going to kill me, but instead he touched my cheek and stood me up... He helped me." I said and reminisced on the memory.
Thorongil was silent as his hand fell from his chest and back to his side. He then slowly nodded his head, as if finally acknowledging my presence as acceptable. Then, without another word, Thorongil sped up the stairs and disappeared around the stone corner.
