Troubled Paradise

Gauri's mom looked at the man sitting in front of her..

His eyes lost in hope; dark patterns of his face spoke tales of sleeplessness and inner turmoil..

Perhaps he is genuine in his apology this time around.. she thought..

For the past hour, he spoke tales of his troubled relationship with his daughter, how his own ruins of life had cast a dark shadow on his understanding and their relationship, how their paths crossed at the strangest of times and how he was dancing between pits of love and hate at the same time..

Still, all that doesn't justify him accusing her of having an affair with her teacher..."Teacher..!", she thought. But perhaps, who hasn't erred in life, even the divine hasn't been immune to vagaries of life.. her trance was broken by his soulless but soft voice..

"Mom please convince her to give this one chance to me.. I promise on my mother, i will give her all the happiness that she deserves in this world.. she is very adamant and rightfully so.. but please let her know that i know i have erred and want to make it right. i respect her, love her and she will be always the love of my life..my only love of my life" 

Omkara singh oberoi had never plead before anyone. But this time around, he was ready to set aside anything that would come in his way. He wanted life back, he wanted "His Gauri" back. Getting her back is his only chance at leading a peaceful life, the fact that he had realized long back, just sad enough not to admit to her and even to himself.

The determination in his voice while uttering last sentence gave a glimmer of hope to Gauri's mother. She thought about the precarious situation they were in. with all her heart, she didn't want to force her daughter out to live with this man, but perhaps that's the safest exit now.
