Gunshots, foot steps, and vulgar language were the only things that were able to be heard under the moonlight. It was around 2AM and I was on my way home from the gas station when I was caught in the crossfire. If I'm gonna be honest, I'm actually really used to it. I live the dangerous part of Tokyo, so nothing really surprises me.
A few dark figures ran past me, one running into me. With a quick apology, he ran and caught up with the others. I turned around to see who they were running from, but saw no one. Was it me that scared them? I mean, I'm 5'1 and just went to the gas station to get cigarettes and an energy drink, so I don't know how.
I'm a late night gamer, so I'm gonna need all of the energy that I can get. It's not like I get tired, it's just that it keeps me mentally hyper.
I make my way to my small apartment complex, happy to be home and safe from danger. As I walk through the front door of my one bedroom apartment, I notice my cat, Sib, sleeping on a bar stool. I set my bags down, waking her up. She looks over at me then over at her food bowl, signaling that her bowl is empty and that she's hungry.
As soon as Sib's bowl was refilled, I head to my bedroom, energy drink in hand. A new challenge on my video game came out and there's no way I'm gonna miss out on it.
I sat down, pulling my chair closer to my desk. As soon as I put my headphones on, that's when I heard it....
A tapping noise from outside my window.
