Outside the lab, Blue and Red were now standing twenty feet away from each other with their starter Pokemon standing in front of them, ready for battle. A gust of wind blew around as leaves fell from the trees as the two males stared at each other with lighting sparking from their eyes.

"Prepare to lose, Red," Blue mocked.

"We see about that," Red commented.

"Squrtile Water Gun!"

"Smokescreen!" Red countered.

Squirtle shot out a powerful stream of water toward Charmander at high speed. Chamander responded by releasing black smoke from his mouth, concealing him and making the Water Gun miss its target.

"Tch," Blue said, annoyed at his miss attack, but he wasn't done yet."Rapid Spin! Get rid of that smoke!" He commanded.

Squirtle jumped up before getting inside his shell and spinning at high speed. He hovered in the rapid spin like a helicopter propeller, and soon the smoke began to disappear. Charmander jumped right above the spinning Squirtle directly before he reached Chamander while removing the smoke.

"Now, Ember!" Red called out.

Charmander opened his mouth and released several fireballs toward Squrtile, which halted his spinning and sent him crashing. The water type got up quickly, shaking off the damage he received.

"Pathetic if you thought that finish us," Blue mocked. "Finish this went Scald!" He commanded.

Squirtle opened his mouth and released a powerful blast of hot water towards Charmander and sending him crashing into the ground after failing to avoid the incoming attack leading to him getting a super effective hit.

"Charmander! Are you alright?" Red asked with concern looking at his starter on the ground.

Charmander slowly got back up in a standing position and gave his trainer a nod before glaring at Squirtle. "Alright then, use Dragon Rage!"

"Counter with Water Gun!" Blue commanded.

Charmander took a deep breath before releasing a blue flame from his mouth towards Squirtle, who countered with a stream of water. Both of the attacks clashed midway, resulting in a brief explosion.

Many citizens of Pallet Town had gathered around to witness the battle. They knew that the time would come when these two young men would have their first Pokémon battle. The younger kids have divided themselves among the Blue supporters and Red supporters and were cheering them on. Among the crowd was Red's mother, his youngest cousin Deila and his uncle on his father's side, and his wife, and Daisy, the older sister of Blue, were present.

"Squirtle Scald again!" Blue called out.

"Charmander Dragon Rage again!"

Charmander once again opened his mouth and released a powerful blue flame towards Squirtle, who countered back with Scald. The two attacks collided back and forth until Squirtle increased the power sending Charmander flying back.

"Charmander, are you okay?" Red asked, looking at Charmander.

"Charmander," Charmander replied as he slowly started to make his way back up to his feet as. Blue smirked.

"Finish this with Water Gun!" Blue commanded.

Squirtle then opened its mouth and fired a stream of water at Charmander, knocking him back down before he could get all the way up.

"Char, mander," Charmander whimpered as he passed on out from exhaustion.

"Looks like I win this battle. Still pathetic as ever, Red. Smell you later," Blue smirked, returning Squirtle back to his Pokeball.

Red looked at Blue with annoyance in his eyes as he returned his Chamander back to his Pokeball. As he glared slightly at Blue.

Blue smirked one more time at Red before he started to walk away, leaving Red to his thoughts. Red gripped Chamander's ball as he watched Blue leave. He still has an annoyed expression on his face, signifying that he can't stand Blue's attitude and losing to him.

'Oh, Blue, don't think you beat me yet. I'm going to beat you next time and show you who is the best Pokemon trainer.' Red thought, placing the Pokeball on his belt.

Team Rocket base...

A group of six Team rocket grunts was gathered in the training area. On the arena floor were three Zubat, two Raticate, and one Spearow. Across from them was a single Lickitung who was eating a rice ball and waiting for the command to attack. The trainer of the Lickitug was none other than Jessie. Araina stood on the sideline, acting as the referee for the match.

"This is going to be a test of your progress. Should you win, you will be granted a pay raise and possible promotion to Team Rocket Agent. However, if you lose, you have to do extra training. If agent Jessica wins, she will get a bonus in payment this week," Araina stated.

The grunts grinned at the possibility of being promoted and getting a pay raise if they won this battle.

'Hm, I guess this is a bad thing after all. I deserve a bonus for all the hard work of putting up with my teammates.' Jessie thought, glancing at her Lickitug, who was finishing up the rice ball it was given.

"It's six against Field Agent Jessica. We can win this." A male grunt with short hair exclaimed.

"If we work together, she won't stand a chance," A male grunt with brown hair smirked.

Jessie stared at the six grunts with a tired look. Her eyes observed the six Pokemon on the field as she brain-processed the situation.

'Zubat are fast flies and use sound waves to locate Pokemon. Raticate is a normal type and can learn decent moves. Spearow, a great, can fly fast as well. It doesn't matter Lickitung has a new move from the last training session we had with James after there their previous task of retrieving Pokemon for the boss.'

"Alright, let the match begin!" Araina announced, bringing her hand down and signaling for the match between Jessie and the grunts to begin.
