Soheila was someone Kaz used to know.Nothing more. Nothing less.
Soheila's father, Lorenzo Crawford, was one of the most notorious gang leaders in all of Ketterdam. She always did what he asked of her, whether it was rob a wealthy merchant, slaughter an entire village, or simply just go and get her father a drink. Her answer would always be the same. Yes.
The truth was, she was afraid of him. She was his slave. He forced her to do all of his dirty work, and she got nothing out of it. Everything went to him, and if anything was out of line, she would be the one to pay.
She met Kaz Brekker when she was 13. Her father had sent her to assault and rob a rich traveller down an alleyway, and of course, she was compliant.
On her way there she had been jumped, and Kaz had been the one to save her. She knew all about him, and he knew all about her. But she was intrigued, why did he save her?
Over the next 3 years, people began to call Soheila and Kaz friends, but he always denied it. To him, having friends was a weakness, but deep down Soheila knew he cared about her, he just only showed it when they were alone.
She spent a lot of her free time at The Slat with Kaz, and when she wasn't free, that would be because she was helping Kaz on a heist. Eventually, Kaz even gave her a spare room at The Slat, opposite his.
That was a year ago. Kaz had stopped coming to her once he formed a crew of his own. His crows, and she wasn't a part of it. She hadn't seen him in over a year.
She had to admit, when he had stopped seeing her, she felt a very sad feeling in her chest. She didn't have the courage to go to The Slat and see him, instead she just thought. Why was she not good enough for him?
