Olivia POV
High School is horrible. You can ask any kid that goes there. From the bullies, to the nerds, to the athletes, to all the kids trying to fit in, getting up before the sun rises doesn't seem to be a priority for most kids, including me. Especially during Exam Week.
I had a Geometry test today, something I wasn't fond of, or good at. I sat next to the window, where I looked out more than I actually did the test in front of me. I tapped the mechanical pencil I was holding against my lip, what I did when I was thinking.
Suddenly as if someone hit a baseball through it, it shattered. I sat in a shocked state, looking around to see what happened or who did it, and when I looked through the window I saw it, the person that did it, or I should say thing. I was pretty sure I was seeing things at this point. I saw what was a Gorgon in my Greek mythology books. The feet were made of snakes, not like the cute little Garter snakes, but the giant Cobras, the body was a dirty green color, but I haven't even gotten to the head yet. The head had flaming snakes for hair, venom dripping from its mouth, and let's not mention how blood stained the teeth were.
And it was looking right at me.
It started coming towards me through the broken frame of the window. I looked at my teacher and the rest of my class, who was acting as if it was just another day. I thought to myself, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM?!
DIDN'T THEY SEE IT?
"Mr. Wagner, don't you see that?" I asked, waiting for his reply.
He looks up from his paperwork, obviously confused by what I was saying. "See what, Ms. Priece?"
"That thing. Right there." I pointed at it, which seemed to confuse my teacher even more. The thing looked at me, it's grinning mouth full of teeth growing even wider, as it spoke, "Idiot girl. He's a mortal. Only demigods can see me." I whimper, as I wait for it to pierce my stomach with its large pointed teeth. I brace myself, closing my eyes so I wouldn't have to see my end coming when I hear a scream.
I quickly open my eyes to see the Gorgon getting an arrow into its neck, spouting icky greenish-black blood from the hole in its neck. I look to see who shot the arrow, and saw a bleach blonde haired boy, holding a bow, with a quiver on his back, standing in the Hawkeye pose on a desk next to me. The guy, Dylan, sitting at the desk didn't even seem to realize he was there as he continued on with his Geometry paper. This new guy wore a ragged blue shirt that was starting to fringe a bit at the bottom, with the letter CO on it, black pants, and black boots.
He looked at me, sizing me up. He then grabs me by the wrist saying, "Come on!", and tries to pull me along.
"Wait, woah, woah. I don't even know who you are! Let go of me! No way, Hawkeye!" I refused to move, standing my ground.
"I see someone knows her Marvel characters." He smirks, "Maybe if we survive, we can see Age of Ultron."
"You wish," I spoke under my breath, hoping he didn't hear. Mr. Wagner looked at me, raising a brow. "Ms. Priece, are you okay? I think you need to go home. Obviously, you were up too late studying last night, I think you need to go home and get some sleep and come back later to finish your test."
"You're right." I replied, "I must be seeing things. I'll be back later." I grab my bag, handing in my test for him to keep. I walk out the door of the classroom, listening for any complaints from the other students after I left.
I heard none. That was weird, considering the kind of high school I attend, they'll do anything for popularity.
I walk down a flight of stairs to get to the school office. I hand in my excuse note, waiting for the secretary to okay it so I could go home. When she did with a nod of her head, I told her goodbye and walked or of school. I got into my silver convertible, putting the key in the ignition, and getting ready to shift out of park when there's a knock on my window. It's the boy from the classroom. Now that I get a better look at him, it was Alexander Ray, the best player on the varsity baseball team. All the girls were practically drooling over his looks and skills.
