Michael was a boy who was fond of walks, always wanting to go outside, always wanting to help his parents with anything, anything he could do, he was kind, he was caring. Despite Michaels young age, he was a very good helper. He even helped any of his friends with anything, he was 11.

Now where this story starts is in a small town. The towns name was Ark ville, it was small but the people made it feel comfortable and welcoming, it was colourful, it was vibrant, the leaves on the trees were just started to fall, it was the beginning of autumn. The town now looked even more colourful than it was before, the green leaves filled the streets and the young children of the town would pile all the leaves to make almost a cushion for them to jump on.

Michael was just going out with his friends for maybe half and hour to an hour, his mother had allowed him to do this since the age of 9, she trusted him with his friends because she knew the town was safe. Whilst the group of boys were walking they saw many things. For instance, squirrels fighting over nuts in a tree, little kids playing on a swing, an old man mowing his lawn, the boys loved the smell off fresh cut grass so they stood around the old man's front garden for a bit until the smell faded away.

The boys carried on to where they usually stop but they saw something in the distance that caught there eye, it was a forest, but why would it be in the middle of a town? That made the boys think. They decided to not go home like they usually did but go near to the forest, the boys started nattering to each other of why it would be there. 'But why would it be here in the middle of the town?' As the boys got closer to the forest, it seemed to get bigger. The trees were almost the same as each other, it was gloomy, the grass beside the forest just moved with the wind.

One of the boys jokingly said 'we should go in there.'
But the other boys except Michael said 'don't be silly jack, for all we know, there could be a kidnapper or something in there or maybe a clown' jack hated clowns and he hated it when people made fun of him for it. 'Stop it Dan, you know I don't like clowns'
Michael hadn't spoken yet because he was too busy daydreaming about the forest in front of him. He took a few steps towards the forest but the boys held him by the shirt and said 'don't even think about it Michael, you could be a dead man.'

The forest didn't scare Michael , rather he found it interesting whilst the others found it mysterious or scary. Michael was not scared of anything, I don't know how but he just wasn't. He stood there, contemplating if he should walk into the darkness leaving his friends behind. The boys had let go of his shirt by now and so he started to walk a little faster this time into the gloom. He stopped. He stopped right at the gates of darkness. He looked up, the trees looked massive. Bigger than anything Michael had seen, but he still said nothing. By now the boys were already holding Michael still with one boy trying to pull him back. There he was, standing at the gates of darkness.
