Alyssa Vernal and The Lost Treasure: Everything Wrong

Just a quick note

This isn't really connected to the book whatsoever. I just wanted to say this.
Okay, so rereading my Alyssa Vernal book, I finally realized the main reason it was so bad. Yes, both the plot and the characters were bad, but what was the reason behind it?
Well, the thing is, before I started writing Alyssa Vernal, I was reading a couple of children's books that had bad characters. The plots of the stories were pretty good in my opinion, but overall - the characters in that specific series were pretty bland, overly perfect, and annoying (they weren't called out on things that they were doing wrong).
But I was a KID when I read this (and I was also a kid when I wrote Alyssa Vernal) so I didn't know what was wrong. I immediately thought "Wow!! This story is so cool!! The characters are so cool!! (Mainly because of their powerful abilities)" so I decided to write a story that was inspired by these books. I won't be stating the name of these books, but - they're a LOT, written by different authors altogether. I found out a lot of mistakes on these books mainly because of Quotev, which had a lot of rant books I could read from (lol not me mentioning it here again, anyway I'm out of my Wattpad phase + this account is dead anyway), and from the looks of it, the books had a lot of issues.
Also, my past self mainly focused on the plot more, so there's that.
My point is, I inspired this book series by books that were badly written with so many Mary Sue/Gary Stu characters, so I guess that's mainly why my book series is pretty awful. I really do plan to make a rewrite, but I'm still not sure if I should publish it.
Anyway, I'm working on the next chapter, it's just taking pretty long because school has been keeping me busy. However, I hope you're still patient enough to wait.
