Variation of colours twirled gracefully across the luxurious ballroom, painting the floor with jewel like colours. The orchestra played loudly in the background, the melody of the instruments flowing among the nobles who followed every step of the tune.
Noble ladies in beautiful, decorated gowns hand in hand with well-dressed noble man waltz around glimmering marble like floor of the giant room of fancy gold décor. The floor itself that was clean to a shine reflected the very dancers upon it.
Fancy lights enchanted the ballroom with melody of the orchestra playing among the chatters of the aristocrats.
Long, white tablecloths embroidered with golden swirls covered the long tables that was platted in fancy and ornated cakes from small bite sized portions to massive ones stacked like towers on the table. Fruits cut into objects and animals, platted neatly amongst the ornaments left on the table to create a pleasant appeal to the eyes of the people. Savory foods were placed in a completely different table as the ones to the deserts.
A dozen of champagne towers were placed on the tables for the nobles who felt in need of a delightful drink.
The banquet itself was to celebrate Crown Prince's birthday but the aristocrats had other intentions of attending the ball. Either to mingle in each other's gossips, finding a suitable wife or husband for their child or for the noble ladies to show off their beauty and elegance to the world as a way to say I'm better than all of you.
As a sign of respect, the other three kingdom's royal families and the aristocrats who were invited had attended the banquet to show their sincere courtesy. However as for the empire of Drakon and Ventus, the crown princes, and the princess of Drakon were the only members of the royal family who were able to attend and for the empire of Isvand, that was a different story.
Damon sat on his throne, leg crossed over his other leg and his cheek resting against his half-closed hand as his jaded gold eyes watched the nobles waltz around or the others who huddled in groups, laughing, and talking about their days or daily gossips.
It was such a bore for him.
He never liked social gatherings, banquets, or his own party for that matter. He insisted his parents he doesn't need one this year or any years that will come but his parents being social royals were stubborn about it.
What made things worse was his fiancé that would be arriving shortly. Diana the worst person he could be around with. Such an incapable brat that clung to him like lost puppy dog thinking he was her owner.
She was so loud, obnoxious and an embarrassment everywhere she went. Her outfit choices have always been so horrendous that he has to hide from her so he wouldn't be seen with her. He already has enough people laughing behind his back for being engagement with a woman such as Diana when there were plenty of fine, well dressed, and well-mannered noble ladies in the empire as well as other ones in the neighbouring countries, yet he was betrothed to Diana because of a plead treaty from 500 years ago.
