New Beginnings

I woke up and got dressed.  Today was the day, the first day of my senior year at a new school. I was so stressed out. My mother yelled "Brooklyn, time for before school pictures." I grabbed my backpack and walked out to the kitchen where she and my younger sister were standing. I saw my sign that said, "last first day of Highschool." My sister was a freshman in high school, so she was even more nervous than I was. I remember thinking "this is it; I am a senior in high school." Even though I had my license and a vehicle she still wanted us to ride the bus just till I got to know my way around the town. I was embarrassed to be riding the bus as a senior, but I had no other choice. We got on the bus and of course had to wear a mask because of covid. I found all my classes and was anxiously waiting for 2:52p.m. to arrive so we could go home. The first month I kept my head down and just wanted to get through the year. I had made a few acquittances but didn't talk a whole lot.

I met this girl in my Economics class named Sarah. She was really pretty, and she gave me her snap. We instantly became very close, and she became my best friend. She was also friends with this girl named Irene, so I became friends with her also.  The winter ball was coming up and Irene asked me to go with her. I was utterly surprised and didn't know how to respond.
