Sorry I haven't updated in like 2 years. I had no idea people would actually read and like this story. Hopefully I still have readers and please tell me what you think and if I should continue.

Chloe's POV

As we walk to the sandlot the boys argue about Benny idea of bringing Scott along.

"Benny why did you bring him? He can't even throw the ball!" Squints says.

"Yeah yeah, he can't even catch!" Yeah Yeah laughs.
"What are you laughing at Yeah Yeah you run like a duck."Benny retorted.
"Kk, but I'm still..."
"Part of the team?" Benny states, "then why can't he be? Just base up you blockheads!"

Benny starts to walk towards home plate when Squints calls out "Hey Benny what about the chick? What's she going to do?"
My cheeks flush red at his remark as Benny gazes at me from afar.

"Chloe you can watch if you want." Benny tells me. I agree because I want Scott to make friends and I want to keep an eye on him which I can't do if I'm playing. So I go and stand by the makeshift dug out and watch as they play.

Watching the boys was interesting to say the least. The made plays almost like a machine, so obviously they have played together a long time.
Benny is definitely the strongest player on the team; he has a lot of skill.

Benny steps up to the plate and calls out to Scotty, "Smalls, I'm gonna hit this one out there for you."

The boys already complaining about this move by Benny, to be completely honest I was really nervous. As the ball popped off the bat, I closed my eyes fearing the humiliating outcome. When I heard the laughter of the guys I knew my fears were confirmed. I opened my eyes and could already see the sadness filling Scott's eyes, so I start to run out to him, ignoring all the side comments by the rest of the team.

As I reach Scotty in the outfield I can see that he is consumed with embarrassment.

"Chloe, I shouldn't have ever come here lets just go home."

As Scotty said this I hadn't even noticed Benny jogging over to us. I can't help but think about how sweet Benny seems to be. I wonder why he seems to care about my little brother so much, especially since his friends are giving him so much crap for it.

Benny approaches and Scott already starts saying he never should have come again. Benny being the sweet guy he is tries to convince my brother otherwise and helps him learn how to throw.  After their talk Scott decides to stay and give it another shot. As Benny and I jog back to the infield, he gives me a charming smile and a wink  and takes off for the batters box. I make my way back to the dugout and can feel the blush on my face.
Why did he wink at me?

After Benny' s little lesson with Scott, things went great. Scott actually caught the ball and successfully threw it back in to the infield. My heart swelled with pride and after the ball made it back in Benny looked over to me with that adorable smile of his and a look of pride.

We stayed at the sandlot a few more hours and I was content just watching the boys. But to be honest I was paying most attention to Benny. When he is out on the lot you can just tell that's where he is meant to be. He has so much talent and it is mesmerising to watch.

After they were finished playing for the day we all started to walk home. One by one the boys split off as we passed their houses and soon it was just Benny, Scotty, and I. As we start to part ways Benny gives Scott a hat to wear to replace that god awful fishing hat he was wearing.

"Hey Smalls, we are meeting tomorrow at 9 o clock." Benny informs.

"Alright Benny, 9 o clock. Thanks again. " and with that Scotty excitedly runs into the house and as the door shuts I can vaguely hear him yell for mom.

I let out a small chuckle and turn to see Benny and I are now alone. He just stands there looking at me for a few moments until I break the silence

"Thanks for helping Scott today, he has trouble making friends and it was really nice of you to include him"

Benny just smiled and said "it's no problem, I think he could make a really good friend. I'm sorry you had to sit out there and watch us all afternoon though, it must have been boring for you."

I playfully rolled my eyes at his comment

"I happen to like baseball for your information."

His smile grows even wider as he excitedly responds

"Well you are welcome to come to the sandlot with us any time you want to then. Do you want to come tomorrow?"

I looked at him with a small smile grazing my lips
"Sorry I can't I have plans with a friend. Maybe some other time. It was nice meeting you Benny, maybe I'll see you around."

And with that I gave him a playful wink and skipped into my house after an eventful day.

Please tell me what you think and I will continue the story. Thanks!
