"how long do we still have to drive?" sky asked her mother, staring at the road but then rolling her eyes and putting her head in her hands.
her mother, eva looked at the car screen.
"about 2 and a half hours."
"are u kidding me? we've been driving the whole fucking day."
sky rolled her eyes throwing her head back and putting her air pods in.
"watch ur language, s."
her mother fired back in a serious tone.

it was raining heavily and the sky was tinted dark grey now.
the raindrops rolled down the window and sky looked at the road in front of her while "summertime sadness' was playing out her AirPods.
what she didn't know that this was in fact, going to be a summer full of sadness.

about 2 hours later they drove past a mini mall.
"hey mom can you please stop the car I really have to buy something to eat, I haven't eaten all day."
"fine but be quick." she replied.

she turned the car and stopped in the parking lot in front of the mall.
"oh and can you bring me m&m's please? the yellow ones."
"sure but you're paying."

sky pulled her hood up and opened their mercedes g-class door.
the quickly walked to a small market that said "mini- mart" in the mall.

after picking up peach ice tea, some pringles and gum she looked for m&m's.
when she finally spotted them in the middle isle she walked towards them and reached for one pack.
but while she was doing so, the sleeve of her oversized sweater knocked a pack down.

she bent down reaching for it when a tanned hand reached for it first.
she looked up, caught off guard.

only to lock eyes with a tanned, equadorian boy about her age.
his wavy black hair was kinda messy with some waves falling in his face (in a good way) and he had the most mesmerizing eyes that she had ever seen in her life.
he was also quite taller than her.

"here you go." he said with a slight smile.
he put his hand forward, signalizing her to take the m&m's.
she took them out of his hand, her fingers slightly stroking his.
"I- thank you." sky replied returning the smile.

"you new here? I've never seen you here and I normally know everyone around here."
he said not breaking eye contact.

sky started to feel her cheeks turning hot and figured that she was probably blushing right now.
embarrassed she looked down for a second, hoping the boy didn't notice.

but she didn't know that the boy thought it was cute and was admiring her.
for a second a smile played along his lips, knowing that he caused her to blush.

sky tucked one of the two strands of hair that fell in her face behind her ear.
"yeah, I just moved today but I live in a different part of the city. but not far away from here."
she replied.

"we'll I'll see you around then-."
he stopped.
"sky." she replied
"see you around sky. I'm miguel by the way."
"nice to meet you miguel."
she said walking off with a smile.
