"The drinks where drugged." I whispered to Mono, my mind clearing quickly. "What?" He asked me. "The drinks where drugged. The same kind of drug The Hunter used to use on the things he caught." I said softly. "Then how come you aren't affected?" He asked me. "He gave me much stronger doses of the medicine inmy food. I've built up a sort of immunity, but my mind's still a bit fuzzy.... the one thing I do know is that those statues had corpses in them." I whispered, leaning on his shoulder.

His face became one of horror and he grasped my hand. "We need to find the nomes." He whispered to me. "Obviously." I responded. "This place is chock full of vents. I hate it, but there isn't much choice."

I bent the cover of a vent and I swear the cuff around my ankle tightened.

We shimmied through the vents, staring down between gaps. We paused when we heard the pitter patter scraappe of something walking over, dragging something behind them. I tensed and the metal vibrated as I prepared to use it. So I don't the corner came the Nomes, dragging my bow and arrows. I grabbed them and suddenly the metal fell from beneath us. We where in some kind of throne room, with the "queen" staring at us angrily.

"Ungrateful...." She hissed, "BRATS!" The metal all around us liquefied, surging around us. We dodged it best we could, but the twins got enveloped in the metal, statues frozen mid bound.

"No!" I shrieked as the metal began to envelope Mono. "Fight." He whispered. Tears ran down my face and I turned to glare at the woman before me. "It's okay, Thirteen. You'll join him soon, my sister in arms." She said, smiling a crazy smile. "Bitch." I replied.

I dodged the surging metal as it moved like predators, slowly making my way to the woman standing on her throne. I heard a squish above me and looked to see a glob of silver falling towards me.

I raised my palms to the sky and the silver blob scattered above me. It circled around my feet as I controlled it, writhing. More and more the silver jumped at me, and bit by bit I took control of it. "It's no use, Thirteen, I am older. I have more experience practicing the power the signal tower blessed me with!" She screamed.

"Heh. The tower might have given you with the power," I began, "but I was born into it. You think you are greater than I am, you yielded to the voices, the power of the signal, and in return they rewarded you with your power. But I overcame those voices. I broke the chains that boumd my to the Pale Cities madness. I am stronger than you." I said, raising my hands. The metallic castle fell to pieces around us, and a shard of metal pierced Elizabeth's chest.

A piercing scream shook my to the bone, but I drew the metal off of the Nomes and Mono, who fell unconscious. I scooped them up and walked through a gap in the metal wall, and laid them down on the ground. A large shard of metal cut off a chunk of my fucking ear.

"Thirteen..." A voice behind me called, "Thirteen!" I turned and saw Elizabeth, trying to crawl from the rubble and reach me. "Rest." I said, going over to her and crouching down. "The tower can't hurt me?" She asked, the darkness of corruption vanishing from her eyes. "It can't." I replied. "I hurt so many people... Mom... where's Mommy? Micah," She asked, "where's baby Micah gone? Mom was taking us to get her brother... Co... Uncle... Con...." The light faded from her eyes and she went limp, and I felt her power surge into me. I saw a nearby port and brought the still sleeping Mono and twins to it. I brought them onto a houseboat and cast off.
