The car slowly sputtered to a start and began driving away from the spot I had been picked up at. My eyes stayed heavily focused on the clearing I had exited from the woods. My father's screams flashed through my head.I had no clue where this lady would take me, I had none of my belongings, and I didn't know if my father would still look for me. There has got to be something wrong with me. I should've stayed home and endured his beating, I don't understand why I pushed him like that. This is my fault.
"Mind telling me how you got yourself to the side of the highway?" The lady asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Oh, erm, I was taking a hike and was seperated from my group," I lied to her in response. There were some hiking trails inside of that woods, so I wasn't too concerned about her realizing I ran away.
"Oh, dear! That's horrible, they must be worried sick. Are you sure you want to come with me? I'm going out of state anywho," she told me with concern obvious in her voice. I kept my eyes fixated on the outside world, but I could feel her eyes glancing me every once in a while.
"Yes, I'm sure. They will be alright without me, I'll find them eventually," I told her calmly. She hummed in response, and when I turned my head in her direction, she reached for the stereo of the car. "Any music you like?" She asked, sparing me a glance.
I paused for a moment. Would she mind Ghost? Most people dislike them as they are Satanic. "Do you like Ghost per chance?" I asked quietly, quickly turning back to face the window, fidgeting with my hands as they rest on my knees.
She hummed, and spoke; "I've never heard of them, I'm sure it's worth a try." And with that, she warmly smiled, turned on one of their songs "Call Me Little Sunshine". I glanced in her direction to see her eyes widened in shock before she awkwardly smiled and relaxed her shoulders.
"Where are you going to, exactly?" I asked, momentarily breaking the silence. "My work, I'll drop you off outside I suppose and you can go wherever it is you exactly need to go," she calmly responds to me.
I hum in response and thank her once more for allowing me to ride with her, before zoning out about the events of the day and possibilities of the future for the rest of the car ride, as Ghost plays lightly through the stereo.
When we arrive at her work, she drops me off in front of the building and we bid goodbye. I look around to see large, towering skyscrapers in every direction. I assume this city must be of some importance.
I begin aimlessly walking, getting strange looks from the townspeople at my sloppy appearance, until sundown. My legs feel as if they're going to fall off, so I sit down in an alleyway, away from the rest of the city.
On the other side of the alley way there was an opening, and from what I could see of it, it looked like a large church, like one of the ones my father watched every Sunday. And it must be in session, it's Sunday today. But, this church was different. It was black and red, and looked almost Satanic. Maybe that was to confuse or ward off evil spirits or whatever Christians do.
I am not a Christian, I don't believe in anything. Some people call me Atheist, but I don't label myself at all. The sun sets, night falls over the sky, and I begin to grow drousy. I almost fall into slumber, and then a rat runs over my foot. This causes me to squeal and jump upwards, running out of the alley towards the strange church.
I nearly get hit by a car when crossing the street to the church, a rather large car to say the least. I could hardly get a glimpse of it before I tripped over the sidewalk and slid over the pavement, skinning my knee. I sat in pain and took some of the bandages off my head and tried pressing them up to my knee to soak up the blood.
"Shit," I audibly mumbled to myself. I slowly wrapped the bandage around my leg, wincing at the slight stinging sensation as blood leaked down my leg. I hear loud chatter before I look up, and see a group of people in strange masks and a man with strange make up get out of the car that almost hit me. I can now see the car was black, and was a double decker bus.
It had the word "Ghost" painted on the side. I wondered where I had seen that before, and then it hit me. This is Ghost, the Ghost band. I slowly stand when I hear footsteps approaching. I feel several pairs of eyes burning in my head.
"Apologies for causing you harm, human," the familiar strange voice I had heard on the television said. Papa IV and his ghouls.
