I was on my way to class as usual. I go to an art college, I just started about a month ago. I still don't know everyone, just the people in my classes. My best friend, Rebecca, is in all of my classes, and I hang out with a few people during lunch, but I don't like talking to people. My college isn't too well known, it's not fancy or anything, just your average art school type place. The teachers are pretty nice though.
As I walked into the main building, I stop in the hall to avoid most of the people. I normally try to arrive a bit early, but I overslept today, so I have to get through the chaos now. My own fault really, but I had a paper due today and I had to finish it. I skimmed around the crowds and headed straight to my first class, biology.
As I got to class, I bumped into Rebecca right at the door. "Hey! Didn't think would see you arriving this late, your normally the first person here." She said, grinning. "Shut up. I had to finish that English report last night, and I slept in a bit late." I replied, hitting her on the elbow. "Oh. I thought you got all your work done long before anyone else!" She said as we made our way to our desks. "Surprise. I'm a normal human being, not a machine. Now shush. Class is starting soon."
Later (after science)
"Finally! We are freeee!" Said Rebecca, running out the door as soon as the class ended. Rebecca honestly hates science, I have no idea why. I pack up my things and get ready to leave. Suddenly, someone put their hand on my shoulder to stop me. I turn around, already knowing who it was. Surprise surprise, it was Eric. He's been trying to hit on me ever since we met. "Hey. Where are you going? I want to talk to you." He said, trying to catch my eyes and failing. "oh, really? Sorry, but I have to get to class. So goodbye." I replied, grabbing my bag and zipping out the door before he can reply. "Hey! Wait!" He called out the door, but I ignored him. He's been trying to flirt with me since we met, I've told him I'm not interested but he keeps on bothering me. He even tried to grab my ass, the only time I've gotten in trouble, because I slapped him and shouted at him to stop, I'm not interested. I never want a relationship, I've told him that, but he just keeps telling me that I haven't tried with the right person yet. Like he would ever be the right person.
I find Rebecca waiting for me in the hall, looking a bit worried. "Hey." I say, trying to signal that I'm fine. I've told her about Eric, but we can't really do anything unless it gets worse. I can't get the Professors to do much unless something worse happens, not like they don't want to help, but it's just the rules. Rebecca and I headed to our next class, fortunately Eric is only in my biology, art, and math classes, and we have gym next.
Time skip to after math(note: I am not in college myself, so I don't know what the classes are actually called. Just going off of the basic class names are at my school and what I know about colleges)
(btw the character's chosen name is Neon)
I went back to my dorm after history, I don't have any classes for a few hours so I'm going to take a nap. I think someone might be following me, but I don't really think much of it until I get to my dorm. When I got there, I turned around and noticed Eric behind me in the hallway.
Creep. I turned around to go into my dorm, but I felt him push me inside, onto a box of my painting stuff, some of which got on my shirt, and then come inside after me. I scramble up off the stuff and turn around to look at him.
"What the hell? Get out of my dorm!"
"Don't try to tell me what to do, you little bitch. You are going to be my girlfriend, I don't give a flip if you say you don't want a relationship. Too bad." He moved forward, as if to get close enough to grab me or kiss me, but I pushed him out of reach.
"What. The. Hell. I have already explained that I do not want a relationship, least of all with you. Now get out of my dorm!"
"Ha! And what are you gonna do about it? Your just a stupid little girl, you can't fight back."
At that I went silent. I already didn't like him, but misgendering me on purpose? That is too far. I ran towards him at full force, shoving him out of the way of the door, and run out into the hall just in time to see Rebecca opening her door (we have dorms next to each other). "Rebecca!" I yell, running towards her. "Neon! Are you ok? What happened?" She said, looking at the mess that was my clothes. "Eric tried to trap me in my dorm. He pushed me, and I fell on some of my supplies. We have to get to a teacher and tell them what happened." I said, starting to run down the hallway. "The math room is the closest, let's go" said Rebecca, running after me.
After they told the teacher (I'm lazy and it's like 11 at night)
Our math teacher had left to get the headmistress, and Rebecca and I were talking about what happened. I was still really on edge, it was like Eric was going to try to r@pe me if I didn't listen. I would have been defenseless, nobody could have heard me scream because the walls are soundproof, someone said there were too many complaints about people blasting rock music at 3am in the dorms, so they made the walls soundproof a few years ago. I was still shaken, but Rebecca was trying to be positive. "Hey, maybe we can get the headmistress to keep him away from you, since he was probably planning on r@ping you, and sexual harassment is against the rules and a cause for suspension."
The teacher walked in, with both the headmistress and Eric in tow. "Now" Said the headmistress "what happened exactly? I already heard what Eric said, but what about you Neon?". (I decided that they don't want to be referred to by titles) I explained my side of the story, how Eric had been bothering me for a while but it hadn't escalated to this point until now, how he had physically hit me and entered my private dorm without permission, how he had tried to force me to date him and sexually harassed me, and how he had purposely misgendered me, all of which were against the rules.
Finally, when I was finished, the headmistress looked mildly angry. She turned to Eric and said "Mr. Eric. I am sorry to say, but we may have to expel you for this. Trying to r@pe a fellow student is strictly violating the rules here, not to mention we don't tolerate breaking into someone's dorm without permission, physically hitting someone, or purposely misgendering anyone. I will look into it, and if other teachers or students can confirm at least one of these things, you will have to face consequences."
Finally, when she was done, Rebecca spoke up. "Actually, Ms, I have seen him trying to touch Neon inappropriately before, and I saw them running out of their dorm after the incident. I don't think they would make this up, not to mention there is evidence that Neon was pushed, because there are art materials on their clothes, but we haven't been to art yet today.". The headmistress looked a Rebecca and nodded, then turned to Eric and said "I am afraid I will have to expel you then. I hope you will find other opportunities elsewhere, but it seems this is not the place for you. Please pack your things from your dorm and classes, and we will inform your family of this occurrence. We may be able to repay the money for the tuition, but other than that we cannot help."
Aight I'm done. I might just use Neon as a character for any one shot or story I need characters for in the future, but idk.
If someone is hurting you, either emotionally or physically, tell someone. Harassment is not ok, so don't let people bother you like that. Don't let people tell you that who you think you are is "wrong" or "bad". If you like the same gender, that's fine! If you like everyone, that's great! If you don't want a relationship, don't let people tell you "you haven't met the right person yet", because people who tell you that you are wrong for being you aren't worth your time. You are beautiful, no matter what anyone else thinks or says. Be you.
