Lucky questioned herself as she watched Maia disappear into the building, she wasn't lying to Maia when she said she would be attending to business, but she wasn't exactly telling the whole truth either. Something Maia stressed her to do if they were gonna work their relationship out, Lucky did plan on telling her she just didn't know when or how.
She sighed to herself before pulling off from in front the building. Lucky was going to get the answers she deserved, and she planned on getting them directly from the source. She stayed on the road for nearly an hour driving in silence to the one place she knew she'd find her ex and also avoid any confrontation.
Exiting the vehicle, Lucky tucked her knife in her back pocket— she hoped she wouldn't have to use it tonight, but Clio was unpredictable. She walked towards a small blue house that sat far off from the others. Reaching the door and knocking, an older woman quickly greeted her.
"Lucky!! Why I just can't believe my eyes" the older lady spoke, she stood in the door frame in a white night gown— a smile on her lips from the pleasant surprise. "Well don't just stand there come on in" she ushered for Lucky to come in.
"Sorry for dropping by unexpectedly" Lucky rubbed her hands together attempting to warm them up, outside was starting to get chilly as the seasons changed. "What, it's not problem at all, I don't mind seeing your face— actually I haven't seen you here in a while" the older lady spoke as she shuffled to sit on the couch.
"I was wondering if Clio was here, there's something I really need to speak about with her"
"Ohh if she could just hear you say that— that girl was a complete mess when you two broke up... a mess" the older lady rambled while clicking through channels on her television. "You missed her not too long ago, she was just right here— slipped out seconds before you came" she confessed mindlessly watching the channels change one after the other.
"Really?" Lucky's brow raising in question. She peered down the hall that lead to the back door of the house— it had been opened, the wind pushing the door lightly. The older woman was in her own world, not noticing Lucky who slipped off to the back to check out the door.
Did she know I was coming and try to run?
Lucky looked out the back door, nothing seem suspicious and it was too dark to spot anything. Just as she was turning to head back inside a branch cracked from the outside as someone stepped on it. "Hello!" Lucky spoke peering her head out the door again, her eyes darting around for a while until she made out someone running away in the open, she quickly sped off behind the suspect.
Lucky sprinted for a while until she tailed the person who ran, there was really no where to hide, the roads were open and the neighborhood was a quiet one. Getting closer she reached her hand out grabbing on to the sweater that hung loosely on the person, stopping them from running.
"Clio?"
"Why are you chasing me?" The woman turned to face Lucky, her eyes piercing into hers. She was angry she got caught.
"Why are you running?" Lucky kept her grip on Clio's arm, expecting her to try to run again— not feeling up to having to chase her again.
"Why are you chasing me?" She asked again, disregarding Lucky's question.
"I wouldn't have to chase you, if you didn't run" Lucky spoke, her voice laced with anger as she continued to hold the girl.
"Lucky you're hurting me" Clio whined trying to remove Lucky's hand off her.
"Clio, you tried to kill me" Lucky didn't care for the girls protest. She came for a reason and intended to get her answers. "You seem very much alive to me" Clio smirked, Lucky gripping her arm tighter at the girls attempt to make jokes. "I'm not fucking around with you Clio, first you get your brother to stick me up outside a club and now you're working with Ivanov to get me killed— which failed by the way" Lucky's anger boiled inside her as she replayed the events that almost took her life.
Clio's brows furrowed and her lips pressed together forming a thin line as she took in what Lucky said, "okay I'll admit, the shooting you outside the club thing was me.... But Ivanov?! Lucky for fuck sakes I wanted to scare you not kill you" she snorted at the end of her sentence, elated by the idea of Lucky fearing her.
"What do you mean? Ivanov said he was working with you" Lucky released the girl she held in her grip, confusion washed over her as she wondered how could she be wrong. "Lucky my dear, you have a lot of angry exes, and I can assure you I'm not the angriest" Clio scoffed while fixing the sweater on her body.
"Clio don't fuck with me right now" Lucky's eyes met hers as her voice rose. "Lucky I swear I'm not working with Ivanov, did he say it was me?" She questioned crossing her arms. Lucky scratched her head as she thought for a second— he mentioned a girl Lucky had been with, but never did say exactly who. Lucky had just assumed Clio because all signs did point to her— she got her shot at, when they broke up it was ugly, and Lucky had ignored the girl like she never existed— even after getting shot, it wasn't until now she had seen her. It had been a while and she looked completely different from when they were together, her full figure was now very thin— her cheeks sunk in making her cheekbones pop. She was still a pretty girl thought Lucky, but the time apart clearly took a toll on her.
Lucky gazed at the girl softly, as if she was saying "I'm sorry" without actually saying it with her words. She felt bad for assuming and being wrong, but she wasn't going to give Clio the satisfaction of an apology, Lucky quickly wiped the guilt off her face, a now emotionless face replacing it as she looked at Clio who continued to keep her arms cross— still visibly confused.
"You still had your fucking brothers try to kill me, and I'm sure you see how that worked for them" Lucky smirked, her eyes low as she let the words she said resonate with Clio. Clio brought her hand out to slap Lucky, but she quickly grabbed her arm stopping her, Clio swung her other arm— her hand making impact with Lucky's face, Lucky quickly grabbed her other hand pushing her against a nearby tree. "I could fucking kill you right now" Lucky roared out.
Clio struggled against Lucky's hold, "then do it Cazzo di cazzo" she spat out eyeing Lucky— who looked as if she was struggling with the idea now. "That's what I thought" Clio spoke amused. Lucky moved her hand to the girls throat, tightening her grasp as Clio grabbed at her hands gasping for air, the rage read on Lucky's face— she was pissed the girl thought she was weak.
"L-Lucky p-p-please" Clio spoke through ragged breaths as she continued to claw at Lucky's hand for dear life. Lucky didn't care— she was seeing red as she continued to choke the girl, stopping just before she passed out stepping back, "you try anything stupid again" she paused before she leaned her head in to whisper, "I won't be as generous". Clio fell to her knees as tears began to pool in her eyes, not caring Lucky turned the opposite direction, walking off to leave the girl sulking in her own self pity.
She felt no remorse making her way to the car, instead she was angry— angry Clio wasn't who was after her head, it left her on edge knowing someone was out there who wanted to fuck her over— and it was a ex at that, she'd been through so many women it was nearly impossible to choose one, they all ended up hating Lucky's guts— Lucky wasn't a commitment type and often got tangle up in her work, so it was common for her to push women aside no explanation— only using them when she was in need of a release.
You fuck women good and they repay you by wanting to take your head off.
The thought pressed on Lucky's mind as she made her way home, she knew this would call for another family meeting— it was getting bigger than it was supposed to be, and she had only been in charge for a few weeks. Lucky for the first time felt fear, she feared the unknown, and who ever was hunting her was truly the unknown.
