"If we die, go to your aunt Marilla Curthburt. She lives in Scarborough. Tell her our names and show her the locket we gave you." Said Faith's parents, face pale and barely breathing, struggling with every word as they lay sick and dying.
Her parents had said no more and by the next morning, they were dead. The people at the orphanage had gone to collect 6 year old her and well, here she was.
Faith had never thought about her parents' words until now. Perhaps it was time to escape.
Are you going to Scarborough Fair
Faith took out her only other set of clothes and placed it lightly on the floor, careful not to wake up anyone.
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme
She picked up the locket and clasped it around her neck and tucked it into her thin dress.
Remember me to one who lives there
Faith took out her goat-skinned bottle that was filled with water.
She was once a true love of mine...
Faith wrapped her secret stash of stale food in a handkerchief she had found on the floor that she collected bit by bit (A/N the stale food that is) for as long as she could remember as the people who ran the orphanage often punished her by starving her.
Tell her to find me an acre of land
She placed all the things neatly onto the coarse blanket that was spread out in her bed and tied the blanket's four corners together and around her.
Faith took one last look at her dormitory that was filled with exhausted sleeping girls. She would definitely not miss the hellhole that had contained her for the past 7 years.
It was time to journey to Scarborough.
In the deep forest green...
