Soheila

• A Searing Burst Of Light •

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐍𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐘 she was refusing this job. A million kruge would give her a chance to end him. She just had to make sure she got the job before he did. All she needed was a way across the fold, and a heartrender.

So she headed to the Orchid, only to find out that the heartrender she was planning to steal had already been stolen. She overheard the conversation between Pekka Rollins and his crew, the name 'Kaz Brekker' was mentioned a few times. He had stolen her heartrender.

She felt anger boiling up inside of her at the sound of his name. She was stupid to think Kaz wouldn't take this job, it was a million kruge. She had tried so hard to forget about him, what he did to her, and if she took this job. It would all be for nothing.

She also knew exactly where he would be. Dreesen's estate. All I have to do is take the heartrender from him. She told herself. When she got to the gates, the guards were furious, something about being given coins with holes in them?

She took the opportunity to slip past the guards and get inside the estate. She slowly opened the door, looking around. No one. She walked around, entering Dreesen's office, being as silent as she could.

When she opened the door, the barrel of a gun slammed into her stomach, making her keel over, gasping. She put her hands up, "The heartrender. Is she here?" She grunted stumbling backwards.

"Who are you?" The guard asked, hitting her with the gun for a second time. "She's with us." A cold, raspy voice echoed. She heard the tapping of his cane before anything else, and immediatley knew who it was.

She looked up, anger spreading through her freatures like a wildfire. If looks could kill, Kaz Brekker would already be dead.

"Never." The girl spat. Kaz had his own crew now, and he had made the decision that she wouldn't be part of it a year ago. She promised herself that if Kaz came back to her, she speak to him, he had broken her trust. But now she may have no choice. Not if she wants a million kruge.

The guard yanked her up, ignoring her protests, and shoved her towards him. He backed up, anyone who knew Kaz knew he hated physical touch, so instead she leaned up against the doorway of Dreesen's office, catching her breath.

They entered the office, Soheila walking as far away from Kaz as possible. She was furious. "One look and I can tell. Criminals," He spat. As If you aren't one yourself. She wanted to say.

"I'm not meeting anyone til midnight." He stated.

"We heard you needed a heartrender," Kaz said. Soheila tried to contain her anger as he spoke. She wanted to scream at him. Ask him why he left her alone with her poor excuse of a father.

The heartrender raised her hand, Dreesen stood up. "All right she stays, the rest of you, out." The heartrender stepped forward, but with one swift movement Kaz's cane flung out across her stomach, stopping her from moving.

"She stays. And we have an exclusive on this job." Kaz was pushing it, just as he always did. He hadn't changed in the past year, except for the fact he was a little taller.
