Luck... Is a strange thing. When you least expect it, you get it. You you need it the most, you just can't get it. It's just really frustrating. Anyways, here is the story.
Long, long time later in the future, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a planet exactly like Earth. It had the same countries, same name and same development as today. But guess what? You could mine for luck. So, there were 2 types of luck: Good luck or bad luck. Everybody had a number on their forehead, and it was a measurement of their current luck. A negative amount of luck meant bad luck, and a positive amount of luck meant good luck. To have 50 luck was very luck, and to have -50 luck was very unlucky. The only way for the people to change their luck was for them to go to the nearest mining station. Each mining station was about 10km apart from the other, and about as big as 6 houses. When you mined, if you saw lots of a red substance oozing out, most likely tears would be coming down your cheeks.
Tears of happiness and joy will come as you would have struck gold! Well, nearly as good as gold. Red meant good luck and purple meant bad luck. Most people didn't bother changing their luck because mining is tiring, but there was a man called Mr Egginon who loved mining. He would mine for 10 hours a day, and since he was physically fit,  he would mine a lot.
One day, he found a purple river. By now, we should all know that that was a bad thing. A really bad thing. He watched in despair as the number on his forehead went from 21 to -163. Most people with common sense would have stopped now, but Mr Egginon was different. He continued mining. Since he wanted more good luck, his bad luck gave him more bad luck. Soon, his luck was -1000, and it was very near to the world record set by Sir Notenoughluck, which was -1005. But, since he started hoping to break the record, his bad luck wouldn't let him do so. Thus, he mined and mined, but he just got tonnes of good luck until the number turned to 20. Since his good luck sensed that he wanted more bad luck to break the record, so it gave him bad luck until his luck was negative, and so on.
Mr Egginon than lived a very very short life. He died 2 years later, and the autopsy revealed that he could have died of exhaustion or pneumonia, which he caught when he had his bad luck. And so, this is why you should not go around wishing for luck. (You don't need it)
