Two women are seen lying on the living room carpet, wearing nothing but a sports bra and a thin pair of cycling shorts. Their gazes were fixed on the white ceiling above as sweat streamed down their forehead and chest. The sun is shining brightly, and the temperature is scorching. The heat is so unbearable it feels like they're inside the oven, cooking them up to be served in a restaurant. And perhaps turning the air conditioner on will be a great help, you'll say? Well, it might be. But it's still impossible since the power is down for a few more hours.
"Gosh, the weather's freakin' hot today I think I'm gonna die."
The woman curled near the couch's feet expressed, reaching out her hand on her side to pick an ice cube out of the bowl. When all her fingers felt was only water, she frowned. It is so hot that even the ice melted in just a matter of minutes.
Feeling that there are no more ice to fetch, she dips her entire hand into the bowl and scoops a small amount of water before splashing it on her face without thinking twice. She exhales a sigh of relief as the slight chill of the water cools her burning body.
"Yeah, it is. I wonder when it will rain again," the woman on the other side replied, fanning herself with a thin sheet of paper to produce a cool breeze. The latter attempted to take the paper fan from her friend but was met with a hand slap and a murderous glare.
"I want a fan too!"
"Then make yours." The woman replied and grimace, making the latter roll her eyes and continue dipping her hand into the bowl of water, splashing it on her neck this time.
They already took a shower four times today just to soak up, but the cozy feeling only lasted about 30 minutes before they felt burned again.
"God, I miss how breezy rain can be."
"Oh, shut up, Seulgi. You just miss the feeling because once the rain pours, you shut yourself and Irene alone in your room like you're in some kind of covid isolation. Hell, even the covid feels like it's third wheeling."
Seulgi frowned at what her friend enunciated, looking a bit offended. She dips her hand into the water and splashes it in the latter's direction, but instead of getting mad, the woman just smiled as the cold feeling of the water soothed her agitated body.
"You shut up too, Manoban. It's nothing like that, alright? She's just teaching me how to play the guitar." Seulgi retorted.
"Son of a bitch, Irene doesn't know how to play guitar,"
Lisa said, her brow furrowed in a form of mockery. Seulgi, on the other hand, scowled at lisa's remark though she realize lisa was right. She forgot her best friend and Irene are attending the same music class. Certainly, her friend is aware of what musical instrument her girlfriend likes to play.
Irene is a pianist, not a guitarist.
"I mean, piano," Seulgi quickly corrected herself, but instead of delivering the correct answer, it brought a scowl to lisa's face.
"Bitch, we don't have a piano,"
Lisa retorted, laughing at her friend's utter stupidity as Seulgi glared at her from the side. Nonetheless, she knows what lisa said was right, they don't own a piano.
Lisa continue to laugh, eyes watering and stomach hurting, and it just made seulgi more pissed.
"Can you just— fine! We're just sleeping!"
"I—"
"And don't even think about saying I don't have a bed!" Seulgi shut her up before she can even mutter her reply.
