We'll see the light again

CHAPTER 12

I turn around and look at Andy. 

''Get out''

I tell him harshly. He sits on the armchair instead. 

''Just get out!''

I yell while getting out the bed and go to open the door but thet're locked. 

''What?''

''Oh yeah, i'm babysitting you for the rest of the night''

''What? No!''

I yell out as soon as the words leave his mouth. I turn back to the door and bang on it while shouting. 

''Hey, let me out''

''Stop yelling, won't you?''

''Shut up''

I tell him while moving back to bed. I sit on the bed, cross legged. 

''Why are you even here? I don't need a babysitter''

''But they think you do''

He takes one of the books from a nearby shelf and starts reading it. 

''Are they going somewhere?''

I don't even know where this question came from. But he doesn't answer me anyways.

''Tell me''

I say a little louder. Andy sighs and closes the book with a loud thud. 

''They went to get Ben''

His words bring me hope. 

''Why didn't they tell me?''

''They didn't want you to do what you already tried to do''

But i barely here his words as i imagine Ben being here with me. I imagine being fine again. I lay back on the bed, hugging my pillow. I don't even notice when i fall asleep with a smile on my face.

SOME TIME LATER

I open my eyes because of 2 voices speaking not so quitly. When i open my eyes i see my dad and Andy. 

''What's happening here?''

I ask sleepy. Dad sits on the edge of my bed. He's not even looking at me after our argument. After what i said to him. That breaks my heart a little. My own dad is not even looking at me. 

'''Ben is here''

As my dad says that all of the sleep goes away. I get out of the bed. 

''Take me to him''

''There's something you should know''

''Tell me''

But then Andy joins the conversation. 

''I think it's better if she just sees him''

''She should know what to excpect whe  she sees him''

This makes me feel like something terrible has happened. 

''Is anyone of you going to tell me?''

I break their conversation apart. 

''Andy take me to him''

I say after the both of them give me silence. 

''Kate-''

My dad starts but i cut him off. 

''I'm old enough to decide for myself, let's go Andy''

We leave the room and Andy takes me to Ben. I have never been to this part of the hideout. We stop infront of a door. 

''Before we go in you should know that he's not really the Ben that you know''

I nod. This makes me scared. He turns to the big, metal door and scans his ID card, that he has hung around his neck. The big door opens and i go in. I go in without knowing what to excpect. I get in the room and when i see Ben, i feel like my whole world stops. Ben is on his knees, his hands are chaned with these big chaines and his mouth is covered with a mask. 

''What have you done to him?''

I ask on the verge of crying. I kneel in front of him and put my hands on his cheeks. 

''The have brainwashed him''

Andy says somewhere behind me. His eyes that were once filled with love and care, now cold and empty, staring at me. This guy looks like my Ben but hes not. This is the breaking point for me. I start crying and hitting his chest. 

''No...No...Please...No''
