Soheila

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐋𝐄𝐅𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄 quickly, walking towards The Slat. "Kaz." Soheila said. He carried on walking. "Kaz!" She shouted louder, walking up to him quickly.

He stopped, but he didn't turn around. She walked in front of him, looking up at his face. She had a million things she wanted to say to him, but only one word came out. "Why?" She whispered in a shaky voice, if she wasn't going to see him again, she at least wanted answers.

He looked down at her, and she thought she saw a flash of guilt in his eyes, but it was gone as quickly as it came. He said nothing and walked past her.

She expected to feel sad seeing him again, but instead she felt pure rage. She put a hand on his shoulder and turned him around, letting go quickly. "Why, Kaz!?" She shouted.

She immediately knew her mistake, she had touched him. Her anger had made her blind, and once she saw the disgust leave his face, he answered.

"I had no choice." He replied quietly. What the fuck does that mean? Before she could ask, he walked off again. His crows following behind him, leaving her alone.

She entered her bedroom through her window, and just hoped her father hadn't came in while she was out. She felt a strange presence inside, like someone was watching her.

She looked into the shadows of her room and could only just make out a figure. "Wraith." She called out. She had only known her for the amount of time they were in Dreesen's estate, but she knew it was her. She could feel it.

"Hello, Soheila."

"Why are you in my room?" She asked, why would one of Kaz's crows want anything to do with her?

"I wanted to say I'm sorry." She said.

"For what?"

"Kaz. He is being as stubborn as ever, I know I don't know what happened between you two, but I want to let you know he still cares about you." Inej told her.

Soheila was confused to say the least. "What?" Was all she could manage to get out, her head tilting a little.

"He's been asking me to check in on you every night since a few weeks after I met him. I never knew why, he refused to tell anyone." She confessed.

This only made Soheila more confused, Kaz was using his Wraith to check in on her? Why didn't he just come himself? Why did leave her in the first place if he still wanted to see her? The questions aroused even more anger in her, making her remember what they had together.

"Come with me to The Slat tomorow. I hear you have good skills, maybe you can help us find a way across The Fold." She said, and before Soheila could reply, The Wraith was gone.

The next day, Soheila got ready. She was going to The Slat whether Kaz liked it or not. She told herself it was for Inej, not him. But a small part of her wished to see him while she was there, even just for a second.

As she stood in front of the doors, a wave of sadness immediately crushed her. She remembered all the times her and Kaz walked in side by side, after completing a heist.
