Being sorted into different houses than the rest of her friends was a pity. But after six years, she started getting used to it.

The sorting ceremony is the most boring part of the evening when you're not a part of it. Persephone doesn't know the Slytherins well enough to sit and talk with them, so for the most of it she sat in silence, watching the people get sorted. There were the girls from her dorm, of course, but they're not the sort you want to be making friends with, unless you believe in the whole blood purity thing.

The ceremony went on for another twenty-five minutes before the feast finally begun. The hall was back to its normal self; filled with loud chatter and laughing students.

Persephone wasn't feeling particularly hungry this evening, so she stared at her empty plate, letting her thoughts wonder. It's easy for her to lose all sense of time and reality when she's lost in thought, this happened a lot when she was a kid. Especially at parties and meetings that her parents would host.

She put my hands in my laps and started messing with her rings. "What's a pretty girl like you sitting alone and looking all sad for?"
She woke up from her thoughts to find Mulciber glaring at her, a wide grin on his face.

"I'm really not in the mood for this, Mulciber." Persephone said, giving him a small smile, trying to be polite.

"Oh, come on," he continued, "got any plans for tonight?" He smirked.

Persephone sighed in annoyance, now losing her patience. "Yeah. Sleep."

He laughed, still not taking the hint. "How about Saturday, eh?"

"Mulciber, I'm seriously not interested."

He leaned on closer, but before he could say anything else, a new voice spoke up.

"Hey, she told you stop, Mulciber." It was Regulus.
Merlin why did it have to be Regulus.
"Don't you have better things to do? Just knock it off, yeah?"

Mulciber glared at him, and without fighting back, he rolled his eyes and left. Persephone looked over towards Regulus' way, making eye contact for a moment, before he looked back.
Yet still no emotion shown in his eyes.

After dinner Persephone decided to go to the library, to pick up some books, before it was time for curfew. Making a stop at the library meant no time to see the guys, so she made plans to go to them first thing in the morning.

She made her way down the stairs to the dungeons, wishing for this day to be over already.
She entered the common room to find Regulus sitting in front of the fire. As soon as he saw her, he stood up promptly.  "Merlin, could you have taken any longer?"

She paused for a second, confused as to what he meant, but before she could say anything, he cut her off.
"I want you to know that just because I helped you with Mulciber back there, does not mean we're friends."

Persephone opened and closed her mouth a few times, trying to find something to say. "I.. I didn't think that." she said, baffled.

"I hate this just as much as you do," he continued, gesturing to himself and back to the girl.

"Well, I'm glad we're on the same page here."

Regulus nodded, still shaken up by something. Not saying another word, he turned, going to his dorm.
Persephone stood in the middle of the common room, isolated and confused as to what had just happened. But instead of thinking anything more of it, she decided to head to bed, tired from today.
