3rd POV

Dawn approached as the sun slowly made its way above the horizon. Its rays creating a vast array of orange and yellow colors once it was seen peeking out. The sky reflecting those colors as well as its blues with the stars soon fading behind it. A few birds woke up and eventually others did too, singing their song and bringing up more life compared to the once quiet night. Mist coming up in a light cloud as the damp grass slightly swayed in the morning wind. Geno took this hour to savor the transition from night to day and appreciate that he was out of the Save Screen for the time being.

Geno took a deep breath and let it out, enjoying the sense of freedom he felt and wishing it were the same back in their dimension. Though the white skeleton knew that wishing would do him no good and has led to useless or weird ideas he couldn't help doing so. Here he was sitting in a library on the surface. With the sun finally coming out and showing itself fully, the most beautiful thing other than the moon and constellations. Trees other than pine, green grass that grew almost everywhere, clouds(!) that looked either like feathers or cotton, flowers that grew in different colors, shapes, and sizes, this was like a dream come true to any monster who lived underground. Just like he could have only dreamed about.

He wanted to play with the thought for a bit but decided against it as it would only lead him astray from the goal in mind. He needed to focus right now to make sure the material stayed in his skull. He couldn't let a mistake in the coming equations set him back however many days. He needed to at least get Reaper back to his AU safe and sound. Even if he himself was left behind.

He doesn't want to be alone, but he will do what he needs to to help.

*Elsewhere 2 hours later*

"BROTHER!" A rather tall skeleton calls out. He has been doing this since his brother's disappearance the day before. Even if it was still early, the peaceful death wanted a head start to quickly find his brother and go to work. He didn't need the other gods to know of this, it was none of their concern and it caused problems to come their way. The skeleton didn't wish to deal with questions and assumptions but if his brother didn't appear within the next few days then he'll be forced to rely on the other gods or the alternate versions of his brother. Either way he would need another monster's help.

A half hour went by with no signs of his brother. Papyrus sighed heading back to the house to grab the day's lists of souls. Realizing that there was twice the work in order to keep the balance till Reaper came back. He didn't like the job he was born with, but it was for the balance, and someone had to do it.

"ACHOO!"

*Another 1 hour later*

The brother in question was just beginning to wake up from sleep. Clear signs being the incessant movement, off-patterned breathing, and the yawn that was produced when opening then quickly shutting his sockets closed. He felt more rested than he normally would be and began to question why before remembering where he should've been around this time. Fully waking up and seeing a library instead of either darkness or his bedroom sparking immediate confusion on why he was there.

"Morning Sleeping Beauty. How was your sleep?" Reaper turned to his right seeing Geno sitting with his journals and books. Right, they were trapped in another dimension with almost no way out.

"Really good for once," he replied.

"For once?" This time Geno made the effort to look at him concerned. He didn't like the response he was given even though it'd be hypocritical on his part if he were to scold him for it. Reaper saw the expression and didn't like it one bit.

"Relax it's not that bad." Raising an eyebrow, Geno scrutinized him with a deadpanned look. Reaper sighed. "Sometimes my brother and I would have to stay up late or carry out an all-nighter just to finish the list. We've been doing it for years so there's really not much we can do abo- Shit."

"What?"

"I just left my brother to do all the work. He's gonna kill me when we get back."

"Or at least when YOU go back."

"We, Geno. We. I promised you that I wasn't going to leave without you."

"You say that now then only one of us is going to make it back."

"You'll see."

"That I'm right? Or that we were fools?"

"There's no winning with you is there?"

"Nope."

"Of course." The godly skeleton then remembered his gift for Geno, deciding he might as well give it to him now rather than later. "Here," he said, passing the bright red bottle to the other.

"A ketchup bottle?" The white cladded monster questioned, inspecting the thing as it seemed random.

"Yup. If I remember correctly you explained to me that you whenever you were at Grillby's you would either drink the ketchup straight from the bottle or switch it out with another drink when it got overwhelming. I thought it'd be a good idea if I got you a bottle and see what happens."

"But now since we're here..." Geno's eye lights glowed with a childish mischief as the old idea came back. "Oh can I see the disgusted and weirded out faces." A smirk formed on his skull already having an idea on where to try this out.

"I'm not sure what I did but the feeling I'm getting isn't exactly a good one."

"It's nothing." Geno shined a smile that caused red flags to flash in Reaper's mind. "Just... an idea."

"Not sure whether to trust that or pretend I didn't hear a thing. What time is it though?"

"Either way works. It's like 8 or 9 in the morning. If my internal clock still works of course. I've been in that damn void for way too long."

"Breakfast time then if you wanna eat."

"Can't. Gotta study this," he replied, gesturing to the journal and books that lay on the ground.

"You gotta eat something Gen. Unlike me, I don't think you'll last long without food or something to help you maintain your magic levels."

"I hate when you're right. *sigh* Fine, I'll grab a bite to eat then I'll continue." Geno would have preferred studying but if he wanted to keep going then he'd have to stop and do what he did before the Save Screen. He may be unable to die from Reaper's Death Touch but that didn't excuse other ways of potentially dying.

"Good. I don't want you getting sick or worse since it doesn't seem like anyone here would know magic besides us."

"I guess that's true. Plus, with the whole anatomy difference it would be tricky to explain our situation."

"We'll think of something. For now, let's get you something to eat."

"Alright. But how are you supposed to get around without risking murder?" The realization of the danger was apparent and with the risks it would be almost impossible to get by without some trouble.

"Fuck!"
