The wind whispers the name. A girl gazes at the trees dancing in the breeze.

She is enveloped in cold air. Her big, clear eyes are focused on a single leaf on the bare

branches.

It’s a deep orange. The leaf finally lets go of the branch and drifts down towards the

ground.

The girl extends her pale arm and catches the leaf in her hand.  Just like her, it’s frail.

A tear rolls down her face as the breeze catches up to her, sending the leaf away, never

to be seen again.

Her long black hair blew forward and covered her eyes, blinding her.

In that moment of darkness, she felt something cold fall onto her hand, still outstretched.

She moved her hair and saw a single snowflake in the palm of her hand.

It was beautiful, so intricate, that she wanted to stare at forever. A spark of happiness

flew up in her heart. She felt millions of other snowflakes falling from the sky around her,

blowing in the wind.

Staring at the snowflake in her hand, her smile faded as it began to melt.

She stood there, one foot in reality and one foot in her world.

Screaming in frustration, she threw herself to the ground. A white blanket of snow broke

her fall. She lay facing the sky, suddenly silent.

The sky was white.

The wind sung a mournful tune as it flew over her.

Take me with you, she begs the wind.

She wanted to be in the sky, where the snow was

The wind seems to sigh as it dances, creating a mini swirling blizzard around her.

The girl steps into her world.

Thank you, her voice lost in the wind.

 She is gone.
