Prologue
Dear Diary, what a day I've had! Between school, work, and the Council of Elders summoning me, it's been hectic. Funny? Not. The reason the Elders summoned me? I had killed a Human. Yes, a human. For I am an Immortal Vampire. My Maker- Damon L. Salvatore- is also my lover, but he has disappeared. Now I must find him before the Elders do. Why? Because I was an illegal creation and Damon must pay for his crime. I have been given the task of bringing him before the Council to pay for his sins. It is not something I wish and want to do, but something I must. It's either that or pay with my life. Yes my own life. If Damon does not atone for his sins, I will suffer the ultimate punishment; Death. My name? Raven Salvatore, formerly named Raven Belikov. Occupation? Vampire and Vampire hunter. Purpose in the After-Life? To get revenge and to KILL!
Chapter One!
"Come on, Alec," I said. "We need to get moving." "In a sec, Rav," said my partner, Alec Inuzé. "I need to finish reporting this." I sighed and walked away to pack up our campsite. We've been on the trail of a rogue vampire for about a month now and we are hoping that whoever it is will lead us to the one persone we need to catch; Damon L. Salvatore, my Maker and ex-lover. Let me tell you a few things about Alec Inuzé. One, he's very protective of me, even though I can take care of myself. Two, he's a loyal friend and he takes orders real well. And three, he's very serious about his job at being a Hunter, so when I asked him to come on this assignment with he, he jumped right at it. He swears up and down that it's because he wants to do more research, but I believe it's because he likes me. I don't know. "Okay, Rav, we can go now," Alec replies, standing up and putting away his notebook. "Let's get up in the trees," I said, jumping up on the nearest limb. "You look like a money doing that, Raven," Alec chuckles, but follows me. "Why thank you," I say, rolling my eyes at him. "Okay, so where's our next location?" Alec asks me. "Well, from the scent we've picked up, I'm guessing it would be Russia. More precisely? In Novobirsk. Home of my brother, Dimitri Belikov. Hey! Maybe we can stay with him and Rose?" I say. "Yeah, maybe," Alec returns with. "Stop! Hold up!" I say while coming to a sudden stop. "What?" Alec asks me. I sniff the air around us. "Our target isn't alone anymore. Two more just joined him." I reply. "Damn it! Do you think he knew we were following him?" Alec asks. "Most likely. But from now on, be alert for any kind of attack." "Okay. He replies, eyes flashing red. Oh, did I forget to mention that ALec is not only a Vampire Hunter like me, but also a Vampire? Yup, two vampire/vampire hunters on the trail of one of their own kind and out to kill another. Just a typical day in the Vampire neighborhood. "Fast and far, Al." I say with a nod to him. "Right," He replies. We move fast and we move far. "Target has stopped moving," I say with shock. "What did you say?" Alec looks at me surprised. "I said, target has stopped moving five meters ahead." I repeated. "Hide!" We both move to hide and watch our target. His name is Alucard Venez, a rogue Elder. "I know you're here! Come on out!" Alucard shouts while looking in the trees. Al and I freeze, thinking he's found us, but it turns out it wasn't us he was talking to. And who should come walking out of the trees into the clearing? None other than our target and my Maker; Damon L. Salvatore. My heart leaps at the sight of him and I silently curse myself for still being weak. I shouldn't have feelings for him still. He turned my life upside down and then abandoned me to die. I doubt he knows I'm alive. Thinking this, I begin to get angry. Alec notices and sends me a mental message only he and I can hear. "Calm down or else you're going to give our location away. I know you're angry at him, but wait until he's alone to confront him." I nod, not trusting even my thoughts, for fear I will take my anger out on him instead of the one who deserves it most. "So, what do you want from me, Alucard? And why have you brought friends?" Damon asks. Hearing his voice makes my heart leap again and I curse myself again at my weakness. I think to myself, "Damn it! Why must I be weak at the sight of him?" Alec looks in my direction, confused. I shake my head, then we turn back to our main targets. "You owe me money, Salvatore! And I plan to collect it! Right here, right now! And I've brought them to make sure you don't back out of it this time," Alucard snarls. Damon raises one of his eyebrows. "I don't recall ever owing you money, Alucard." Damon replies. Alucards eyes grow wide. "What!?" He screams. "Don't recall? Salvatore, you are going to regret pissing me off!" And with that, Alucard leaps at Damon, fangs out, eyes blood-red. Damon just stands there and I am tempted to scream at him to move and get away when he does move. But it's not to dodge, but to attack. Because he is my Maker, I can follow his movement whereas Alec cannot. Damon moves to the right a bit and grabs Alucards out-stretched hand and throws him into a nearby tree. Which also happens to be the tree I was hiding in. Good thing I'm a vampire, otherwise I would have been knocked out of the tree by the impact. Just as Damon was turning around, the other two jump at him. I scream, "NO!" my body responds to the threat to my master. I leap out of the tree to land in front of Damon just in time ot intercept the attack. I fling them both to the ground, my fangs out and poised to kill. They take one look at me and flee.
