A/N: Hello babez! I'm back!! I've taken a nice long break from writing after my inspiration and motivation started lacking. But here I am still going strong with another BPS, Ryuks_Applepie Original: The West Side. It is heavily inspired by West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet. Enjoy!
Diana's POV:
Ok, so you multiply it by the first term? Or is it the second term? No, it's definitely the first. Okok, now what? You add the third coefficient. Yes, that's it! Ok, I think I finally get this!
'Diana, you're doing the question wrong. You subtract the third coefficient, not add it. Have you not been listening to the teacher for the past week?'
'Ugh! Are you serious? God, this is so hard! Lehee, you have to help me study after school, I'm going to fail this test! I've never failed a test before and I don't plan on changing that!'
'Girl chill, the test is next Friday. That gives you the weekend and 4 school days to take your time to review the Polynomials.'
'Yeah, you're right. I've just been so stressed out. I've always been good at everything academic, I'm getting straight 100s in my other classes! I just don't understand why this Polynomial Math stuff isn't clicking with me.'
RINGGGGGGGGG
'It will click soon enough, but now it's lunch and I'm starving. I'm kinda broke after ordering Uber Eats for the past week. Mind if we eat inside?'
'No, that's fine,' I picked up my bag from beside my chair and shoved my notebook and pencil case in there before zipping it.
'Kk, I'll text the crew to meet us at our usual table in the cafeteria,' Lehee said as we both swung our bags over our shoulders and followed our classmates out of the classroom.
The hallway was flooding with high school students rushing to get to their usual lunchtime spots or meetings. A range of teenagers from 13 to 17, one of the scariest crowds to walk through. The judging eyes, the high-pitched laughs coming from those 10th-grade girls as they walk passed. Lehee and I finally made it to the stairs and started walking down side by side. I think I bumped shoulders with at least 4 12th-grade guys, they're so intimidating. Last school year, in elementary school, I had nightmares about this place, but here I am. Attending Stephen Lewis Secondary, one of the two most popular and powerful high schools in all of York Region.
We walk into the buy cafeteria and head straight for the back corner table, I can already see our friend there. Lehee and I approached the table and sat down on either side.
'Hey Diana, Lehee' Siyerra said in a cheery. 'Hope you don't mind that I invited my boyfriend Matthew' - she unnessisarly emphasized the word Boyfriend - 'and his friend Logan to sit with us today.'
'No Siyerra, we don't mind' Aliya says from the other side of the table. 'He sits with us every other day and you say that every single time.'
'Welcome to the coolest table in the caf, Logan,' I say in a sorta monotone yet friendly voice.
He laughed 'Thanks.'
Logans in my drama class, I've never really had a real conversation with him so I don't really know what he's about but I know he is extremely likable. He has a lot of friends.
'So, Matthew,' Siyerra says in a dreamier voice now. 'Tell everyone about the amazing date we went on yesterday.'
Me, Lehee, Aliya, and Logan chorally roll our eyes, I guess we're all used to how annoying Siyerra and Matthew can be about their recently developed relationship.
'Boooo! Shut up!' Aliya says shouts while plugging her ears and shaking her head.
'You're just salty Aliya. I don't your boyfriend, where is he? Right, he doesn't exist!'
'Whatever, I need a boyfriend. And for your information, I can pull whoever I please, I actually have my eye on someone right now.'
'Oh yeah? Who?'
'Maybe I'll tell you tomorrow, right now I'm feeling sick. For the past 5 days, I've been hearing about your stupid relationship! Let me recover from the cringe.'
Siyerra didn't say anything, just crossed her arms.
'I also kinda like someone,' Lehee said. 'I'm thinking about asking him out soon.'
'Congrats Lehee,' I say excitedly.
Lehee hasn't had much luck when it comes to guys. She is super pretty and pretty popular but was always outshined by Avril, this is her year to finally get the guy she wants.
'Thanks, boo, what about you? Has someone caught your attention yet?'
'Nope. Everyone here is ugly and I decided after the Jesse and Shayan nonsense last year, I would take a break from guys.'
'True and fair,' Aliya sighs and takes a sip of orange juice.
'But if I had to get with a guy, it wouldn't be anyone from here. Maybe Bill Crothers, or Chat, or Westmount-'
Aliya spits out her juice and the cafeteria seemed to go silent for a split second.
'DIANA!' She takes a deep breath. 'Please tell me that was some stupid joke, you know we're not supposed to associate with the West Side.'
SLSS being one of the two most popular and powerful high schools means that we have a competitor, WCI or as you heard Aliya just say- the West Side. Stephen Lewis, known for our amazing, unbeatable sports teams and for producing the most acidemic advanced students. Westmount, know for its incredible Art programs and for producing the most successful youth business owners and creatively gifted students. However, both have the most popular and active students in all of York Region, of course, teenagers would call a war on this.
Siyerra and Logan both looked sick, Lehee was just shocked. Everyone here is so dramatic.
Siyerra started laughing nervously and checked over her shoulders before leaning in close.
'Listen, we aren't supposed to have any kind of connections to that terrible school, let's just stop talking about it. If you were to publicly date someone from that school, you'd probably be a social outcast until you graduate.'
'That's so stupid, it doesn't make sense.'
'Welcome to high school, nothing makes sense.'
'Whatever, I'm happily single anyway, and certainly, no Westmount boy is gonna come walking along and change that.'
