January 2nd.
'I don't know why, but I always feel a little unhappy when vacation days come to an end. They are the only days I get to be outside of the office for a long period of time. I love my job, but it tends to get a bit lonely, especially when the mayor never shows up. But, that's what I signed up for. (sigh).
January 3rd.
'Guess what? The mayor came in today and brought me a nice gift for being such a good secretary! I'm a bit embarrassed to say this, but I almost burst into tears.'
January 4th.
'I got another gift today! Someone must have heard about my unhappiness and sent over some flowers! They smell so nice. I had almost forgotten how nice this town can be.'
